Jeannette and Brent wanted a unique and intimate Dallas wedding to enjoy and celebrate with as they started their marriage. Choosing the Dallas Museum of Art to host their family and friends provided a cool, modern feel, but also offered an intimate outdoor space to exchange their vows and capture photos.

A simple yet elegant design created a sense of intimacy in such a grand space, and we love that they chose to bring some of the outdoors in with their centerpieces and garden style arrangements from Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe. With a neutral color palette, their design provided the perfect compliment to the pops of color and bold art installations that created unique focal points throughout the reception space.

With the guidance of Keestone Events and beautiful imagery from Trisha Kay Photography, we love seeing how this couple’s wedding day came together. Keep scrolling to see more and hear all about the details of the day from this stunning bride !

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).

Brent and I first and foremost wanted an intimate wedding with an outdoor ceremony. The outdoor space of the Dallas Museum of Art was perfect for this and it had a beautiful sculpture garden that we could take pictures in. In order to keep with the theme of the modern garden, we brought in peonies, garden roses, succulents, king proteas, and eucalyptus in to our bouquets, boutonnieres and center pieces.

What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?

First, it was really important that we had a great venue with an outdoor space to get married that would accommodate a wedding of about 100 people without having the wedding itself feel too small. We splurged on food and a great photographer that would capture our memories for a lifetime. We skipped the fancy limo and opted for an Uber black, but our hotel and after party were across the street from the museum so it really wasn’t necessary.

What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories)

Definitely seeing all of our friends and family in one room dancing and having a great time together, but to be honest, the whole day is so awesome.

Describe any DIY, handmade, or personal details.

I designed my own invitations and all the inserts with the help of my friend who is a graphic designer (Christine Abrego) and did the calligraphy myself for the addresses. Lettering classes go a long way… I highly suggest them for any bride!

Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?

It’s totally doable to plan your wedding in 6 months. If you’re on a budget, stick with the few things that are the most important to you; everyone will great a time regardless of how much you spend on your linens. Great food, great booze, great people… don’t stress.

We love this advice! Whether you have 6 months to plan or a year+, picking a few things for your wedding day to prioritize will help you focus your efforts. Whether it’s food or design or entertainment or any other details of the day, determining what is most important to you and your fiance and adjusting your budget and planning efforts accordingly will help drive your decisions in the most productive ways!
