I just adore actual engagement shoots where the photographers capture the actual moment of proposal! This particular shoot by The Schultz’s was extensively planned by the new groom, and it’s pretty genius if you ask me. As told by Cheyenne Schultz:

“Amy and Andrew are from Raleigh, so the first thing was getting them to Charlotte. Andrew worked it out to be in for a weekend to visit friends, which would be followed by an opportunity for Andrew to come shadow me photographing an engagement session on Monday morning (at least, that’s what he told Amy). Once Monday morning rolled around, I picked up the phone to call Andrew and unfold the plan……

Andrew relayed the message to Amy – the engaged couple for the session had cancelled on me because of the weather (lies……all LIES!!! :), but if they wanted, I could go ahead and just photograph the two of them, as Andrew would still be able to learn a lot being in front of the camera. Amy took the bait and the pair headed to meet me.”

“I had told Andrew beforehand what I was going to say that would be the cue for him to drop to his knee……

“One thing I’ll do sometimes to encourage interaction is to have the couple face the opposite ways from each other and when I say “go”, I’ll have them turn around and run toward each other into a hug. So, let’s go ahead and do that. Amy, go ahead and face that way, and Andrew, you face the other way.”

“Okay, GO! Turn around!”

Amy turned around, Andrew dropped to his knee, and my heart about stopped I was so dang excited!

And this is what she saw.”

{Breathtaking, right?!} And the rest is beautifully documented history!

The love and happiness of these two is so awesome to see! What a perfect time to take engagement photos…excited, happy, radiant, and so in love! It seems like these surprise shoots are becoming a lot more popular now. I wish I had known about this, I totally would have put a little birdie in my husband ear! :) I know my best friend already asked me to put one in her boyfriend’s, when the time comes around.

I recently created this inspiration board for a bride who’s colors are silver, white, and lavender. She wants to incorporate some vintage (early 1920s/1930s) elements into her wedding, so I came up with a few ideas for her! There’s no better way than an inspiration board to get the “feel” for how a wedding will look!

Row 1: Bouquet, Photo Garland, Votive, Shoes, Centerpiece

Row 2: Head Table, Invitations, Bride and Groom Chair Signs

Row 3: Table Numbers, Centerpieces, Necklace

I always thought that Lavender was kind of cheesy, but when done the right way and paired with the right elements, it looks awesome! These colors would look great paired with gray as well.

I included a few different potential DIY projects in this board this time around. I think I like the doily wrapped votive the most. What’s your favorite part of this inspiration board?

I must admit, being a Florida girl, I’m freezing in the 40 degree weather that we’ve had here lately, (but it FINALLY feels like winter). And I wanted to draw out the holidays juuuust a bit more…I guess the fact that I haven’t taken down my Christmas decorations yet is also an indication of that. So a snowy wedding was just perfect!

A few days ago, I sent out a tweet asking if anyone had any awesome last weddings of 2009. Oh how I love Twitter! Amy of Amy Rae Photography sent me this wedding in response to my tweet! She said that this was a wedding that had to be moved up early due to the groom’s deployment, and I always love a good military wedding! This wedding was absolutely gorgeous! And I was SO excited about the SNOW!

If your bridal party are troopers and can handle the cold like this bridal party, photos in the snow are awesome! They’re so…I hate to say it, but there’s no other word…magical! Goodness, God bless them all for being out in that snow! I wouldn’t be doing it! :)

I’ve been “working” nonstop for oh, about 16 hours, just trying to catch up and get back in the blogging and business mode. I just so happened to check Twitter at 3 AM, and lo and behold, a post from Bride Tide with the new list for 2010. This list is something that most wedding bloggers hope, long, and aspire to be a part of, and it only comes out once a year. (If you’ve never heard of Bride Tide, it’s an awesome site. I can’t even explain it. You just have to go see how awesome they are.)

This infamous list is the Top 100 Blogs (and Twitters) to Follow for 2010.

I am so incredibly excited to be able to say that Every Last Detail is on it! I’m pretty much so excited about it because it’s the first ever “blog list” I’ve been on, so that’s a big deal for me. I’m so excited that I almost woke up my husband to tell him and was thiiiiis close to texting my best friend. I just had to share the exciting new ASAP with all of you wonderful readers!
