This rustic elegant red wedding is filled with meaningful, personal details that Casey Hendrickson Photography captured beautifully! The bride Katie wore her mother’s gown and veil, her rings were made from family diamonds, and the rustic elegant style combined the groom’s love of the outdoors with Katie’s love of everything feminine and vintage. Katie is here with us today sharing more about her wedding…
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My Mother and Mother-In-Law. I’m so blessed to have these women in my lives, they were there for every step in the planning and with so much of the wedding being DIY, they helped me with every detail.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Personality of the vendors. I wanted to make sure who we were working with understood what we wanted, were friendly, easy to communicate with, and well organized. Our vendors were wonderful and nailed every detail, our wedding day went so smoothly it was like a dream. I kept waiting for something terrible to happen!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I wanted to make sure both our personalities were represented in the wedding details. I love vintage, delicate details and Josh is a huge outdoorsman, so we added wood slabs, quail feathers, and antlers to the theme. I loved how the rustic details balanced the more feminine details.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
All of the family and friends represented in the hand-made details. Josh designed my rings and used diamonds from our family, his wedding band was his Dad’s. My wedding dress and veil were my mother’s that my grandmother altered to make the dress more modern. The wedding was officiated by Josh’s childhood friend. The bridesmaid’s earrings and groomsmen’s cuffs links were made by one of the bridesmaids. Josh and I designed the invitations, programs, and wedding favors. Josh and his parents made the tobacco stick baskets for the out of town guests. Our red velvet wedding cake was made by my aunt. The list goes on and on, so much love and hard work was put into this wedding from so many people, it made the wedding feel so personal.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Planning a wedding can be stressful! Start planning early and don’t think you have to do it all by yourself. The earlier you start and the more you allow people to help will make the process so much easier!
How lovely are the shades of red used all throughout everything? And the antlers in the centerpieces are the perfect way to infuse the outdoors, don’t you think?
So tell me- will you be combining two styles to reflect you and your future spouse too?
Vendors who made it all happen…
