Heather and Jonah planned their chic black and fuchsia wedding by drawing their inspiration from the colors of Valentine’s Day and the chic style of New Year’s Eve. Every last detail seemed to fall right into place- including stunning florals by Andrea Layne Floral Design! The day was captured perfectly by Andi Diamond Photography, and Heather is here with us today to share more about her wedding planning experience.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I planned nearly every detail of our wedding with a lot of help along the way from my vendors and family. My mom and sister were a big help to bounce ideas off of and they were in on every big decision. My groom went to every meeting with me and helped whenever I needed him as well. My photographers (ADP) were a HUGE help. I was new to Tampa and they gave me suggestions along the way. They introduced me to my amazing florist which I am so thankful for! They even referred me to a seamstress for alterations. Another big help was may day-of coordinator at the Straz because she was SO MUCH MORE than just day-of. Jenna Ribarich was there for every question I had and every time I wanted to do a walk through. Because of her my day was smooth and stress free.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Personality and experience. It was just as important for the person to have a good portfolio as it was for us to like working with them. We met with a few vendors for everything and we chose the person that we felt a connection with, the vendor that we felt “just got us”. Jonah and I were extremely happy with everyone we worked with, some now I consider friends.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I like bold colors, rich jewel tones and brights. Gold is my favorite, it had to be incorporated. I started browsing Pinterest like everyone does and came across a few pictures. I love the colors of Valentines Day, but I wanted it to be glam. So in my mind I wanted to create a New Years Eve version of Valentines Day. Downtown setting with sparkle of gold. Similar to a modern day Gatsby. Then I came across the Fluorescent Fuschia Rent the Runway dress and everything just came together.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I loved the whole event, it’s such a special time surrounded your closest family and friends who love and support you. It was such a happy occasion. One of my favorite moments was the First Look. It was the most emotional part of the day for us. Having that private moment really helped ease the nerves too. Being with Jonah, dancing, and celebrating.. Seeing our vision come to life. I absolutely loved our venue. Jonah would probably say the Lambo exit :) But there isn’t anything we would change.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
The guests list/RSVPs will be stressful, go with your heart and don’t let people get you down, it’s about you and your fiancé. Follow a checklist and just do one thing at a time. Pick a few things that are most important and be flexible on the rest. You will go over budget, so just prepare the best you can. There were things that didn’t go exactly as planned on our Wedding day, but honestly I didn’t care. I was having fun with the love of my life surrounded by my favorite people and that’s all that mattered.
Beautiful advice Heather. At the end of the day it really is all about you and your fiancé. Follow your checklist and just do one thing at a time, you’ll get there!

Wow, that fuchsia is magnificent on the bridesmaids. Love the fact that the bride had matching fuchsia lipstick and the men had matching pocket flowers. What a neat idea!

We loved working with Heather to create a floral design that complimented these amazing fuschia dresses. This combination of glam and garden with the berry tones was a perfect accent. Thanks ELD for featuring our work!
