Interview
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I would have to say classic. Now, that does not mean I do not love working with different styles. Actually, I love aspects regarding all different types of styles, it gives me inspiration! However, I always find myself coming back to classic. I love that I am able to put my own twist on each and every design, give it it's own personal uniqueness but never loose it's timelessness or for lack of a better word, classic style.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
I always say "it's all in the details", and I love when couples think outside the box and create that extra "wow" factor! I would have to say, it's a tie between tall flower filled centerpieces (I love flowers!!!), unique ceremony flower arches and elaborate escort displays. I love when something that can be an afterthought, such as an escort display, is the star of the show. It is also such a smart and somewhat unconventional place to add that wow factor. Your guests are guaranteed to see it, and it's the first thing they notice prior to entering the reception space, which can set the tone for the rest of the night.
What is your favorite store or brand?
Nordstrom!
What advice do you have for a newly engaged couple?
ENJOY IT! Every single second of it! It will go fast! Yes, you will be overwhelmed at times, have conflicting ideas, and maybe even feel a little lost, but that's okay! And normal! Your wedding day will go even faster, so be present and spend that time with your husband, family and friends. Remember, they are there for you. Be selective when you choose your vendors, don't just rely on their work or reviews. Instead, talk to them, ask questions and go with your gut. You want to be one hundred percent sure with every vendor you select to work with. They are helping you plan the biggest day of your life, make sure you feel comfortable and confident in your choice, trust me, it matters.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
Lining up my bride's and their bridal party to walk down the aisle. The rush of emotions that comes over everyone in the room when they see her for the first time. Not to mention, all the love, laughter and memories that are being made. It's simply amazing to be a part of it!
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
First and foremost, I value the relationships I make with all my couples. It's vital that as a planner, I take the time to get to know them as people, their vision of their big day, and their wants because it's my job to make it all happen! Making connections with my couples, and vendors for that matter, are the most important, in my opinion. I'm honest, and direct, I will give you my honest opinion, and be that much needed friend to talk everything wedding to, all the time. I'm a great listener, and sometimes, that is what a couple needs! I also have amazing attention to detail and I am able to think outside the box, make you think about things that might have never crossed your mind. Again, it is my job to ensure no detail is overlooked. And lastly, I'm your confidant, the person that my couples need to be able to trust, so I work very hard to earn that trust throughout the planning process, so come their wedding day, there are no doubts.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
Prior to booking any new couple, I require a phone call. Why? Well, to me, it's extremely important that we click, "vibe" for a lack of a better word. I need to be exactly what that couple is looking for. Hiring a planner or coordinator is not an easy task. You need to be able to trust them wholeheartedly, they are helping you plan your wedding! That's no small deal. Basically, I am here not to only ensure your day runs smoothly, and just how you envisioned it but I'm here to make the entire process as stress-free as possible and enjoyable. It's so important to me my couples don't just have a planner, they have a friend, and I am able to give them an experience while working with me. I also value the relationships I make with the vendors I work with. They matter just as much! As vendors, we need to have an understanding and trust each other too. As a team, we are in charge of creating this day, and bringing it to life! Vendors count on me for their timeline, and direction. I need to be on my A game all the time, no questions asked. During the planning process, all my couples use a specific software to stay organized, and I can communicate with them in one place, instead of dozens of email threads. They can bounce ideas off of me 24/7 and I can keep up with their planning progress that I have set up for them, ensuring no detail is overlooked. I'm also there to put out any fires and extinguish any problems they may arise along the way or even day-of. We wear many, many hats, and I love it!
