Hi again loves! I want to start sharing even more tips and advice here on Every Last Detail, so I’m going to try *really* hard to have little Tuesday Tips posts for you all in addition to the usual Thursday Tips! :)

So the other day, I was flipping through the new Martha Stewart Weddings magazine (which is HUGE and FABULOUS by the way!) and was wanting to remember things that I liked. I thought back to my wedding planning days, and how I would earmark and tear out pages from magazine. But I remembered that when I went back to look through my inspiration folder, I would have no idea what it was that I had liked about that page!

So I remembered this little tip to help you mark your page AND remember what it was that you liked… Post-its! I know you have some hanging around your desk! I had some that were already the perfect size for marking pages, but you can use whatever size you want. Then, as you’re flipping through the magazine and you see something you like, put the Post-it as close to the photo/text as you can, and jot down why you like it. (Note: I know that this is definitely not a new idea… this is just a reminder to use this method!)

Ah, please forgive the horrible quality of the photos… I hope they’re clear enough for you to get the idea! I hope this little tip will help some of you in your quest for inspiration! Oh, and in case you don’t already know, the internet version of this method is Pinterest, and it is AMAZING! ;) If you haven’t received an invite yet, just leave a comment that you need one and I can send it to you! :)

If you have any other tips for reading wedding magazines, feel free to share them with us! :)

Okay so 1) YAY an inspiration board and 2) how do you like all of the foods as color names? ;) I wanted to start the first week of 2012 with an inspiration board, but I didn’t realize just how long it’s been since I’ve done one! It seems like the past few inspiration boards that I created were specifically for inspiration shoots, which is cool and all since I get to bring them to life, BUT that also means they’re more spread apart! So one of my 2012 resolutions is to do more inspiration boards, whether I’m designing a photo shoot around them or not! :) This “peach, beet and lavender” inspiration board doesn’t have an inspiration shoot to call home yet- it’s just purely to inspire! I’ve been loving bold colors paired with lighter colors lately, and this color palette is exactly what I’ve been dreaming up in my head for a while now. It’s so very elegant and romantic, and would be perfect for a spring or fall wedding!

Inspiration Board: Peach, Beet & Lavender via TheELD.comRow 1: Color Palette, Potted lavender, Bridesmaid dress, Bouquet, Gray Tux

Row 2: Invitation, Glasses, Tablescape

Row 3: Cake, Bouquet, Chairs, Dress, Escort cards

I’ll tell you what though, I am absolutely loving this board! Hmm, maybe I WILL bring it to life this spring! ;) So what do you all think of this inspiration board? Do you like the colors together? And is are any of you using colors like these for your wedding? Tell me tell me! :)

Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?

I see myself as a modern photographer who loves to capture eclectic events. My style is timeless; I keep true to bold, vibrant tones to capture the mood of the day through colors, and tend to frame photographs from very distinct angles. Since I’m a crafty person I appreciate all the do-it-yourself touches a bride and groom have invested in for their special day, which translates to my distinct attention to detail. I pride myself on attention this meticulous aspect of my personality and it shows in my work!

What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?

My favorite wedding details are those from Etsy that are clearly hand-crafted. I identify with the crafty side of the business and I like to support local and small businesses myself. Some great things I’ve seen are custom ring boxes for the ring bearer to carry and customized hangers for the brides dress. As a photographer, I definitely appreciate a great hanger to compliment a wonderful wedding dress!

What is your favorite store or brand?

It’s hard for me to choose just one store or brand I adore. Many brands come together to make a complete picture that’s successful for an event. I will say I’m addicted to Pinterest though! You can find all my inspiration there, username Mikkel Paige!

What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?

Advice I have for a newly engaged bride is to take some time to enjoy being engaged! Then certainly capture this moment in your life with some engagement photos! Not only will you love having them years from now as you reminisce about this chapter in your life but it allows you to familiarize yourself with being in front of a camera with your fiance. Additionally, it allows the photographer to familiarize him or herself with you! It’s a win-win situation!

What is your favorite thing about weddings?

My favorite thing about weddings is that the love in the air is palpable. I am truly continuously honored to work in such an amazing position where brides and grooms select me as the lucky one to capture their day’s special moments. As I stand there photographing a bride and groom, I can’t help but be affected by the electricity in the many special moments I get to be a part of.

What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?

I am such an outgoing and personable woman! I am always incredibly optimistic, and I’m a level-headed voice in potential moments of chaos on a special yet busy day.

It’s incredibly important to me that you are able to connect with me and, similarly, for me to connect with my brides and grooms. I make sure I meet all of my clients before they sign a contract whether it’s via Skype (if we’re long distance) or in person for coffee. This is to ensure we’re a good fit as you “hire the photographer, not just the photographs.”

I stay in contact with you from the moment you send your first inquiry, to the days leading up to your wedding, to your big day. It’s as if I’m an old friend by the time your wedding rolls around!

What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?

I work out all details before a couple’s wedding to ensure that the day runs as smoothly as possible. This entails contacting the wedding venue to touch base, letting vendors know I’m excited to work with them, and most importantly working with the bride and groom to coordinate schedules and important details.

My wish for all my brides and grooms is that they build up such trust and faith in my abilities as their photographer all they need to do on their day is simply enjoy each moment.

Definitely has a New Year’s Eve feel to it, right? There’s just something about a rooftop that makes things so much cooler! ;) Of course it helps that the tablescapes were absolutely gorgeous… and did you see the paper goods? Love the “live concert” theme that they carried throughout! A big thank you to Kristyn Hogan for sharing this awesome wedding with us!

So now tell me what you did for New Year’s Eve… did anyone else attend a rooftop party like I did?!? Oh and I’m dying to know… did any of you get ENGAGED?! :)
