I hope most of you are enjoying a long weekend! I honestly had completely forgotten that today was a holiday… thank you self-employment! ;) But either way, the week still goes on, right? I thought it might be nice to start the week off with a colorful modern wedding from Marissa Moss Photography. Pink, purple, yellow and green combined with a modern, clean style is absolutely gorgeous! And I the bride, Jenna, is sharing some of her wedding planning experience with us too, so keep an eye out! :)

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I would say my mom and my three best friends helped the most. My mom was always there to help with decisions and offer advice. She was always there to listen, help call vendors, and give me ideas. She also kept me calm when things would go wrong, like dress alterations or vendors double booking our wedding. And my three best friends from high school helped with all the details. They helped me do everything from painting the just married sign to going to buying flowers the day before to dropping things off at the church and reception site to planning all of my showers and bachelorette party and the day of activities.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to work with people that I knew and people who knew my style. I wanted to work with small vendors because I felt that they cared more about my vision for the day. I found that the big vendors were often not as responsive as I would like and the small vendors were excited to different things. One of my best friends moms did all the flowers for the day. It was only her second wedding but she did an amazing job. And the woman that made my cake has been making cakes in her house for 13 years and she had so many amazing ideas, not to mention delicious cakes! Also, the band that I wanted was my favorite band from college. My husband and I met at Auburn University so it meant so much to me to have a band that played songs from some of the best years of our life. Our officiant grew up with my Dad and was the officiant at my parents wedding 35 years ago. I am so glad he gave us his blessing; I hope Townsend and I can have a life together as long and as happy as theirs. My brother sang in a quartet at the ceremony, which was also really special. He has such a great voice! And of course, I went to high school with my photographer and I have watched her work through the years. She did an outstanding job. It poured rain and I was so upset that I wasn’t going to have any pictures outside but she found a way to capture our day in such a unique way.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My mother in law hand painted our save the dates, invitations, and thank you notes. She is such a talented artist and she made each piece of stationary so special and different. And now we have 3 different works of art to remember our day by!

It was also just so special to me to have my friend Kendall’s mom do our flowers. I moved to Tampa when I was 6 and Kendall was the first friend met in 2nd grade. Her mom watched us grow up together, go to school together, college together, and then we were both planning weddings together. So it meant a lot to me to have her be such a big part of our wedding day.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Obviously it was marrying Townsend! But I really loved everything. I loved my dress, the invitations, the flowers, the venue, and most importantly the company. We got to spend our day with our closet family and friends.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Just enjoy your day. Remind yourself throughout the process what a special time it is in your life and be grateful for all the people that are helping make it the perfect day.

A big thank you to Jenna for sharing her wedding insight with us, and thank you to Marissa Moss Photography for capturing the day so beautifully!

I don’t know about you, but I am loving the use of the different colors and the “color blocking” of the centerpieces! So very chic and modern! But now I want to know… what’s your favorite part of this wedding? Are any of you having a modern wedding or using different colors like Jenna and Townsend did?

Let’s close out this week with a Detail To Love, shall we? Did you see the awesomely modern purple and green wedding last week? Well perhaps you recall that they had an equally awesome monogram decal on the doors of their venue! How cool is that?! Using the the same monogram that you used throughout all of your paper products as a piece of decor? Brilliant!

Well it also just so happens that their monogram and paper products were designed by my friend and ELV paper pro Matthew of a fine press! He posted a few images of their invites, and so I wanted to share one of the photos with you to show you how the invite sets the tone for the wedding!

Pretty awesome invite, right? And see how great it is to have an invite that gives you a glimpse into how the wedding is going to look? I HIGHLY recommend making sure you do that! Okay, enough of my ranting and raving… what do you think about using a monogram as decor? Do any of you have a monogram for your wedding? Are you using it anywhere in the decor for your wedding day?

[Editor’s note: So didn’t you know? Today is green day. Unintentionally. ;) Love love love this wedding though… ENJOY!]

Do I have a stunner of a wedding by Alante Photography to wrap things up this Friday! The setting of the Pacific Northwest provides a gorgeous backdrop and I love how the green really pops against the black and white. Be prepared for some stunning images full of pure, raw, and beautiful emotion. And enjoy hearing from the lovely bride, Jennifer, too!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My mom was a HUGE help!! My fiancé and I live about four hours away from where I grew up and where we were planning on getting married. He works full time as an engineer and I’m a full time nursing school student. So for about four months my mom would run around and take numerous pictures of different place settings, center pieces, and all aspects of the wedding then let me choose what I liked. I literally could not have had such a wonderful perfect day without the help of my parents!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

The most important thing that I/ my mom looked at when we interviewed  potential vendors for the wedding were their ideas and what they could bring to the table, how they could make our wedding special for us.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My parents (although not vendors) had strawberries and champagne sent to our suite, the hotel had food sent to the room, while the cocktail hour was going on and our wonderful photographers had a slide show during the reception that was AMAZING! They also gave us a picture of our first kiss as a married couple when we went to go through our pictures!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about the wedding (besides obviously getting married) was seeing everything come together. The ideas that we had started with from the beginning when we started planning all morphed into this beautiful wedding that I could only have imagined in my dreams. There isn’t anything that I would have changed!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best advice for future brides is to set aside more than enough time to plan, and to remember that no matter what when you look back on your wedding that little “miss-hap” won’t seem so enormous later, so just breathe and have fun!

A big thanks to Alante Photography for sending these photos our way and to the gorgeous bride, Jennifer, for sharing her thoughts as well. I really love when a photographer is able to capture emotion the way Alante Photography did, don’t you? The laughter, the anticipation, and the joy all come shining through. I love it. Oh, and how much do you love the bride’s necklace? Swoon.

What’s your favorite part of the wedding? The emotion? The colors? The necklace? I’d love to hear!

Happy Friday loves! Sorry I’m a little late on this post today… things have been crazy around here! (Sidenote: when I say around here, I mean my house. Because that’s where I work, in case you didn’t know.)  So this classic green wedding comes to us from Forever Photography By Kylene, and it is just effortlessly beautiful! There are some super fun details too, so keep an eye out! The bride, Susie is filling us in on everything!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I did a lot of the planning myself but had the help of my good friend, Maggie, my sister, Terri, and I asked my photographer Kylene lots of questions. :) A few friends and family also helped the day before and day of the wedding. I didn’t want a lot of my family the day because I wanted them relaxed and having fun with me.  My caterer, Chef’s Garden,  also helped relieve a lot of the wedding day pressure by doing a lot for me at the reception hall.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My photographer gave me a really cool hanger with our names on it to hang my wedding dress. She also made our custom guest book using images from our engagements session. My caterer made sure that Chris and I had servers at our beck and call during the reception which was great. They also packed us a great doggie bag that we devoured later that night.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I really enjoyed every minute of my wedding. I had such a good time plannning it and was very relaxed the day of knowing that my vision was in good hands. I really enjoyed dancing with Chris all night, our DJ was awesome. The food and cake were great!!!! At the end of the night when Chris said, “That was a lot of fun, you did a great job” I knew my night was complete.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Really pay attention to the details before hand and plan the day down to the minute. Then make sure those details are in good hands. Pick out vendors you have researched and heard good reviews about to take care of everything. Because I did this I was able to relax the day of and really enjoy getting ready, the ceremony and the reception without any worries.

That is some great advice Susie! And thank you to Forever Photography by Kylene for sharing the images with us! :)

Did you catch those favors?! I love how it’s something that they both love- sharing your relationship with your guests is what it’s all about!
