I don’t know if you know this, but yellow and gray is one of my absolute favorite wedding color palettes! So I was of course SO excited when Cedarwood Weddings sent over this rustic, chic yellow and gray wedding photographed by Justin Wright Photography! Usually yellow and gray is quite modern, but I am LOVING it with this rustic, southern style! And of course Cedarwood ALWAYS designs fabulous weddings! This one has a lovely combination of burlap, lace, and mason jars… absolutely GORGEOUS! The adorably southern bride Jenny will be sharing some insight into how this beautiful wedding came together… you’re going to love it!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Our wedding was held a Historic Cedarwood in Nashville, Tennessee which is a vintage southern home.  Cedarwood has a design team which helped us SO much with our wedding. They provided the backdrop for our ceremony which was outdoors under a tree behind the home.  Cedarwood also has a barn which was the location for our cocktail hour that included a bluegrass duo while our guests were served various types of lemonade.  Cedarwood helped us coordinate our reception dinner with a local caterer which included Southern foods such as brisket, honey baked ham, macaroni and cheese, hash brown casserole, and homestyle green beans.  The design team helped decorate our entire wedding to fulfill our every dream.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We wanted our wedding to be vintage, southern, and sun-kissed. Therefore, we wanted to find a venue which could accommodate our vision. In addition, we wanted to find a photographer and videographer who could portray our wedding how we dreamed. We wanted our wedding team to take our ideas and be able to expand upon them.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

The groom’s grandfather passed away a few weeks before the wedding. We already had everything printed, including the programs with his name listed. I contacted the company which printed our programs, explained the situation, and they completely reprinted the programs for free! Their generosity was very much appreciated during this hard time for our family.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

One of favorite things for our wedding were our personalized vows.  The section of our vows we loved the most read, “I vow to be there for you always; when you fall, I will catch you; when you cry, I will comfort you; when you laugh, I will share your joy. Everything I am and everything I have is yours, from this moment forth. As I have given you my hand to hold, I give you my life to keep.”  We wanted our vows to be original and special to us specifically, and we feel that we accomplished that.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

I would recommend that brides remember the small details of the wedding and personalize everything as much as possible. For example, we provided ‘I Spy’ wedding activities for the children at the ceremony. Also instead of buying wedding favors, we had homemade jam in vintage jars to provide an extra touch for guests. The day before the wedding, we provided each bridal party guest with personalized gifts, even the mothers. We tried to keep each guest specifically in mind.

That is some GREAT advice! Thank you for sharing your wedding with us Jenny! And thank you to Cedarwood Weddings for doing such a fabulous job, and to Justin Wright Photography for capturing it all beautifully!

Hmmm, I really don’t know if I can pick a favorite detail… I am LOVING the bridesmaid dresses. Although, the centerpieces are pretty awesome… the combination of candles, a few blooms, and burlap accents is absolutely gorgeous! Do any of you have a favorite from this wedding?? Or are any of you having a rustic chic wedding like this one? Better yet…. any yellow and gray weddings?!?! ;)

Happy Tuesday lovelies! I’m so excited to share this modern nautical inspiration shoot with you all today. I love when a theme AND a style are combined to create something amazing, and that’s exactly what this shoot from Carrie Wildes Photography did. Taking the nautical style and combining it with modern, AMAZING florals from ELV floral designer FH Weddings & Events– gorgeous! Oh, and did I mention that the whole shoot took place on a historical battleship? How’s that for nautical? :) Alright, enough explaining from me… time for you to be inspired by all of this beauty!

Well hey there friends! Are you all ready for March?! I’m sure most of you are ready for Spring to bring the warmer months, huh? On the other hand, here in Florida, I somewhat dread the Spring because it leads to the scorching hot summer. (But the weather is indeed pretty awesome in March and April here!) Well, anyways… this navy, pink and green wedding that I have for you all today from Amanda McMahon Photography definitely reminds me of spring! The color palette is a perfect combination of modern and elegant- I love just about anything paired with navy though- it always looks so gorgeous! The bride, Kim, is joining us to share some insight into her wedding planning- I’m sure she’ll have some great advice!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My husband was a great partner helping me plan our wedding. Our ceremony and reception was truly and extension of the both of us. My sister—my MOH—was a great sounding board for the girly details.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I choose vendors that were similar to my personality and style. I wanted to collaborate with vendors that would understand my style effortlessly.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My reception location, the Hillbrook Inn, was exceptional. The grounds of the historic European Inn were something I will never forget, as well as the service provided and delivered by the staff. There were many gestures that were done to make my day extra special, and it’s hard to select just one. My most memorable keepsake was the surprise of a framed photo with an embroidered picture of the Inn with mine and my husband’s names and our wedding date. The photo now hangs in our home. If you ask my husband, his favorite surprise would probably be when the bartender served the Inn’s homemade lemon cello and kahlua. We did not even know they made the homemade beverages. Our guests were also very pleased. My florist, MelleFleur, surprised me on wedding day by getting the berries that I wanted (and were out of season) for my bouquet. I had a calligrapher, Hand Calligraphy by Catherine Hoffmaster, who created a wedding scroll for our guests to sign. She provided wonderful details in how to preserve and protect our work of art. My photographer, Amanda McMahon Photography, worked with me before, during, and after our wedding.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Aside from marrying the man I love and sharing that moment with our closest family and friends, my favorite things about the reception was the custom calligraphy wedding scroll for our guests to sign, flowers, and the delicious gluten free food. My wedding was full of sentimental details.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

On your wedding day, take a special moment with your new hubby and glance around at your loved ones, and the day that you both created—this is a cherished moment that you will reflect on for years to come.

Aw, yes, please do remember to take everything in so you can cherish it! The day is definitely a whirlwind- you want to do everything you can to remember it! :) Thank you so much for sharing your wedding insight with us Kim! And thank you to Amanda McMahon for sharing her gorgeous work with us!

I am just LOVING the pink incorporated into the centerpieces! So gorgeous! And the Mr and Mrs signs are an excellent tough- that’s one of my favorite little details for every wedding to have! :) What about you… what’s your favorite thing about this wedding? The colors? The centerpieces? The bouquets? :)

Um, I honestly cannot believe it’s Friday already! You would think that with Leap Day, this week would have felt longer or something? Definitely not- it felt about ten times shorter! Nonetheless, it IS indeed Friday and I’m sure all of you are excited for the first weekend of March! I think this elegant wedding that I have for you all from Heather Brulez Photography is an excellent segway from the winter into spring. This gold and white color combination would actually be perfect for any season! It’s definitely elegant and timeless, which is always gorgeous! Oh and the bride, Leslie, is stopping by to share some of her insight from her planning process too!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I think my florist and my event coordinator helped me the most in planning the day of my wedding.  I had nothing but ideas in my head and clippings from magazines.  My florist, Russ, took my ideas and really transformed them into a complete vision.  I had never done this before (like most brides) and so it was very nice to leave the day-of coordinating to the professionals.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When deciding who to work with for my wedding, a personal reference seemed to make the most sense to me.  I was very overwhelmed when searching for vendors on the internet, so finally I just asked for help on my Facebook status!  I knew I had deadlines to book several vendors, so this just seemed to be the most effective way to chose a reliable vendor.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

I think my florist, Russ, made the day the most special.  He really wanted to include personal touches throughout the wedding that I had simply overlooked.  My dad had passed away about six years prior to my wedding, and he wanted to make sure my dad’s memory was as significant or personal as I wanted it to be.  Russ wanted to tie in as many family references throughout the day as possible, and as I look back on the day, I’m glad he reminded me of how important my family is!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about my wedding had to be how much fun we all had on the dance floor!  My husband and I met at a wedding, and there we realized that our (sometimes tacky) dance moves meant we were made for each other.  We let it all out that day!  We got married July 30th, so naturally it was extremely hot.  But by the end of the night, my family and friends were having so much fun, and we didn’t seem to care how hot it was outside.  I loved that we got married at a hotel, so most of the guests could really partake in the wedding festivities and just go right up to their room at the end of the night, or go for a dip in the hotel pool!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

I think the best piece of advice I could give other brides would be to delegate some of the never-ending list of duties to others.  I know you may feel like you can do it all yourself, but sometimes you have to pass on a few of those tasks to others.  Your bridesmaids, mother, fiance, family, and friends are there to help and WANT to help!  No matter how small the task, delegating a job to another will relieve you and make that person feel included in your wedding process.

Thank you so much for your insight Leslie! And thank you to Heather Brulez Photography for sharing this beautiful wedding with us!

How awesome is it that they met at a wedding? I just love that! Oh and how about those awesome brooches and items in the bride’s bouquet?! The tables were all named from the different cities that their guests had traveled from… what a great idea! I’m sure it made their guests feel a little bit more of a “part” of the wedding. So what about you all? Are any of you going to be having brooches or items in your bouquets or flowers? Or will you be including your guests in the decor of your wedding like Leslie did with the table names?
