And a little behind-the-scenes fun from Classic Filmworks…

Neon Wedding Photo Shoot from Classic Filmworks on Vimeo.

From B Bride Events:

“My inspiration for this neon wedding photo shoot was to simply have fun and to create a relaxed wedding atmosphere! By using a bright and eye catching color palette & textures allowed for a fun, vibrant and over all relaxed wedding where guests can be themselves.

What is a fun colorful wedding without the added touch of a DIY feel. Plates, napkins and table runner were created from a blank slate and enhanced with washi tape and paint. DIY wedding elements ensures  that your event will be unique, different, and that your special day won’t be your average wedding.

I felt it was important to choose colors and textures that are not seen as everyday traditional wedding colors. How often do you see neon pink, yellow and orange at a wedding? No too often. It was refreshing to step outside the box and do something that few brides are willing to achieve.”

I love all of the ways color and design were infused into these neon wedding ideas! Everything from washi tape to the flatware- such excellent examples of how you can incorporate your design and theme into your wedding!

So tell me- would you consider a neon color palette for your own wedding?

This travel-themed wedding absolutely stole my heart! All of the little touches are just amazing- like the paper airplane reception exit, compass references, and maps and globes everywhere! This is one wedding theme that was done SO very well!

So tell me- what do you think of this travel theme? Are you planning a wedding with a particular theme at all?

Wedding Planning Advice

From The Bride | 001

“I was planning my Florida wedding from Connecticut (while trying to finish up law school!) and my venue was very much a blank slate, so I knew from the outset that having a planner would be a worthwhile investment. What I didn’t anticipate was just how helpful Laura and her team would be. When I couldn’t find invitations the felt true to my style and a good fit for my budget, Laura worked with me to design just what I wanted. When I had a hard time getting in touch with a busy vendor, a quick phone call from Laura meant I was suddenly on that vendor’s radar again. On my wedding day, when the wrong color table runners showed up and unexpected wind gusts knocked over and broke some of the taller centerpieces just minutes before guests were supposed to come in from the cocktail hour location, Laura and her team fixed it all without it ever being a source of stress for me. I could go on and on with examples, but to put it simply, Laura and the Ashton Events team were truly amazing!

Hopefully my earlier responses have sold you already on what a worthwhile investment a wedding planner is. I’m so, so happy I hired Laura and the Ashton Events team! Beyond that, I have two key pieces of advice:

First: Be sure to invest in a photographer whose work you love and whom you love working with. Much of the event itself is now just a blissful blur in my memory, so having amazing shots of so many moments from the wedding and the reception—including lots I never witnessed myself—is so special. I’m especially thrilled (1) that our wedding package came with the digital rights to all the photos, allowing us as well as our wedding guests to print any of the photos, and (2) that our photographer, Catherine Ann Photography, is a two-person team, allowing the two photographers to divide and conquer to capture so much more of the day itself! It’s definitely worth negotiating on digital rights and a second shooter if those are not automatically part of your photography package.

My other main piece of advice for brides planning outdoor weddings and receptions is to make sure you have a back-up plan that you are happy with. James and I really lucked out, and the weather ended up being perfect on our wedding day. But we were anxiously watching the ever-changing weather forecast all week. Laura and my parents had come up with some back-up arrangements that we would have thrown ourselves into finalizing in the last few days if the forecast hadn’t taken a turn for the better. But because I had not been as involved in that part as all the other planning, I was pretty nervous about the weather. We got lucky, and hopefully you will too, but it definitely helps keep stress levels down if you have a backup plan you’re comfortable and happy with!”

Katie and William were married in Georgia in a beautiful cathedral church, and their elegant pink and gold wedding reception took place at the Country Club of the South. Varied centerpieces and gorgeous gold elements add just enough glamorous sparkle to this gorgeous southern wedding captured by Tessa Marie Weddings.

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My family, friends, and husband definitely helped me the most with the wedding planning process! My mom, as well as my sister and Maid of Honor, Megan, were by my side in making many of the wedding related decisions, from my dress, to the flowers, to the signature cocktail, they were always there to give me advice!  When the wedding day finally arrived, our coordinator Candice took the stress off my hands and ensured the entire day went smoothly!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

My husband and I really wanted to maximize the best quality for the best price when it came to vendor selection.  I did a lot of research online before meeting with any vendors, it was really important to me that I liked their past work and style.  I also relied heavily on recommendations from close friends.  Finally, after I narrowed down my search, I met with vendors in person to make sure that we would be able to work well together and that they were receptive to our needs and vision for our wedding day.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My husband and I really wanted our wedding day to reflect our personalities and style. We wanted our day to be classic, timeless, and elegant, while keeping our guests comfortable and entertained.  We selected my family’s home Catholic Church, Saint Brigid, for the ceremony location.  For the reception, we decided on Country Club of the South. It was the perfect size and we were able to utilize the beautiful outdoor space as well.  We set up corn hole, hand painted by my creative MOH Megan, during the cocktail hour for guests to enjoy.  We also loved the golf course views, William played college golf and we thought it would be fun to tie in golf to our theme.  The groom’s cake was designed in the shape of a golf hole and our signature cocktail was named “The Nineteenth Hole”.  For our color scheme, I decided on shades of mint and coral complimented by gold, ivory, and lace accents.  I loved the bright colors for a June wedding!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

I loved every moment of our wedding day, especially sharing it with all of our family and friends, but one moment that stands out as a favorite was definitely our first dance!  We decided to try ballroom dance lessons to get us ready for our first dance and we had so much fun practicing!  Our first dance to Everything by Michael Buble turned out absolutely perfect!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

If I could give one piece of advice to other brides it would be to make sure you work out all the details ahead of time, so that when your big day finally arrives, you can enjoy every minute-it goes by so fast!

So elegant and timeless- just what Katie and William wanted! And I love the pop of aqua too!

Are any of you planning your own elegant and timeless wedding? What will your color palette be?
