There might not be anything more exciting than featuring a wedding professional’s wedding, which is why it’s such an honor to be sharing Emily and Jon’s Washington DC wedding with you today! The bride, Emily, is the owner of the DC-based floral design company Love Blooms Here, so you just know that the florals and details are going to be absolutely breathtaking! Using a color palette made up of rich purple jewel tones, vintage gold accents, and an elegant, garden style, Emily created a wedding look perfect for her St. Francis Hall wedding. Lucky for us, the newly married duo’s pup, AJ, made an appearance at the ceremony, and Terri Baskin Photography was there to capture each every gorgeous moment. Of course Emily is here with us today sharing her planning insights and experience, so keep an eye out for her wise words!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Aside from my wedding planner, my bridesmaids were amazing! They helped me the most during planning. Advice to brides, when your bridesmaids say “how can I help?” take them up on it! They actually want to help! They were so supportive and patient with me! They helped me make decisions when I was overwhelmed with options. They tried on more bridesmaids dresses than I want to admit. They were the best! :)

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I am a wedding florist in the DC area. (Love Blooms) . It was very hard to choose vendors, because I knew and loved so many! I chose my vendors based not just on their skill level, but also their personalities! It is so important to “click” with them on a personal level, since you will be working so closely with them! I am lucky to have worked with all of my vendors on previous weddings, so I did not have to do any research. The most important vendor you should connect with is your photographer. We loved Terri, she was laid back, sweet, and funny! It is great to have a photographer that you can relax around, because your pictures will reflect that.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

I was inspired by our venue! We used St. Francis for our ceremony and reception. It has a medieval vintage vibe, so I let that influence the rest of the decor! I used a rich jewel tone palette with accents of vintage gold. I wanted all the details to be cohesive, so I DIYed a lot- I made the escort cards, table numbers, signage, and of course, the flowers!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

The favorite thing about my wedding was the party! The dance floor was packed the whole night! All my friends and family dancing together was amazing. Everyone was having so much fun, it was contagious!

What is your best piece of advice for other couples?

My advice to other couples is to hire a day of coordinator! It is an added expense, but it is worth every penny. We were able to fully enjoy our day without worrying about any of the details!

That is some pretty amazing advice and insight! It’s always so refreshing to get the perspective of a bride who is also a wedding professional herself!

While Lauren is staying warm in Florida, it’s safe to say I am still recovering from this weekend’s blizzard that left two feet of snow outside of my window. Needless to say, Renee and Jared’s fabulous summertime Oklahoma wedding makes me remember all over again that warm weather will be here before I know it! Renee and Jared were married at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame’s Gaylord Pickens Museum. The space is beautifully modern, and the couple infused just the right amount of romance through their florals designed by Birdie Blooms. I adore that guests were able to explore the museum during cocktail hour on the first floor before moving to the second floor for dinner via a stairwell lined with azaleas. There’s so much pretty at every turn, and it’s safe to say I am oh-so-happy Kristen Edwards Photography was on hand to capture every moment! Bekah adores rustic style, vintage details, and flowers as far as the eye can see, and a colorful country barn wedding was the perfect way to infuse it all together! All of her favorite elements played an integral role while planning her wedding with her (now husband!) Jared. The duo fell in love with their venue, The Southern Barn at Lonesome Ranch, and it’s easy to see why. With its rustic style and shabby chic details, it was the perfect place for B+J to recite their vows and celebrate with family and friends.

Bloomingdale Florist knocked it clear out of the park with each and every one of the floral pieces (the bouquets are definitely my favorite!), and we’re always so overjoyed to share Ailyn La Torre’s gorgeous photography with you! Keep reading below for all of Bekah’s wedding planning tips. Happy Friday, friends!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I know my style and thankfully the girls at the southern barn kept my mind at ease, listening and taking notes… even following my wedding Pinterest board. I trusted them hundred percent with their style as well. So finding the perfect venue , photographer, and videographer was key for me. When we found the Southern Barn (Venue) we knew it was the perfect place for us. Every vender plays a huge role, so make sure you’ve done your research and found someone good and trustworthy.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Aside from marrying my best friend, my favorite thing about my wedding was the people I shared it with. The thing I remember most was all the laughter, I had this overwhelming sense of peace. My heart was full with my closes friends and family by my side.

What advice would you give other brides?

Stay true to your style (don’t go with trends).

Break traditions (some or all).

Think of memorable things on your own to do.

Though your fiancé is probably tired of hearing about decor, flowers, cakes… Etc. Make him be involved anyways (he’ll thank you later).

Let your fiancé choose his outfit if he prefers that (mine did).

Don’t forget on your special day to focus on taking everything in and remembering everything possible.

Oh and take deep breaths!

Love all of Bekah’s advice and insight!
