We love when couples break the “rules” on their Los Angeles wedding day, and create something special and unique to them. Lisa and Sam wanted an intimate ceremony with a large celebratory reception, and we absolutely love how it all came together.

These two exchanged their vows on the steps of the Lombardi House in Los Angeles, CA with fewer than 25 friends and family serving as their witnesses. However, their precious boxer girl Lucy definitely made a cute canine witness for their “I Dos”! After the ceremony, they celebrated with a larger party in a modern, whitewashed bard. Their laid back and organic style flowed throughout the day with the garlands running down the tables illuminated by the soft glow of candlelight. Harmony Creative Studio the perfect natural organic design for this couple, and it came together in a simple and beautiful way. It’s not often that you get lush gardens, mountain views, and desert portraits all in one wedding, but Jessica and Dean’s Southern California wedding day was exactly that. Held at a private estate in Rancho Mirage, CA, this couple, with the guidance of Vision Events, created an elegant evening under the stars to celebrate the first moments of marriage with those closest to them. From the elegant altar to the subtle glam style of the reception, the design of this day was both simplistic and chic.

We love how Katie McGihon Photography not only captured so many beautiful moments throughout the day, but how she used so many different spaces to capture the beauty of their venue. The location was breathtaking, and this entire vendor team created such a perfect day of celebration!

Did you love some of the large design features as much as we did? The giant marquee J and D, the paper floral backdrop, and the beautiful altar that glowed into the evening were such beautiful elements on their own, and we love how they worked so well into the overall look of the day.

What a stunning view to end the evening with. We love Jessica and Dean’s style, and it looks like their wedding day was nothing but joy-filled!

With the refreshing subtleties of the first days of spring, Ais Portraits along with RW Events created classic Southern garden wedding ideas inspired by the vision of “The First I Dew.” We appreciate a good pun, but this inspiration stole our hearts with the bright spring colors, a design dripping with lush blooms evoking a natural and organic feel, and the soft watercolor patterns. Oh, and that pup y’all… you will LOVE the adorable puppy that stole the show in several of the portraits!

RW Events created a style that mixed the classic elegance of a Southern wedding with a handful of modern touches and feminine fun. The florals, designed by Flowers by Lesley, created a lush garden feel that immediately puts you in a joyful spring mindset, and the style she created tied together beautifully with the watercolor invitation style and fabric that was incorporated throughout the design.

We simply love the elegance that this team created. Also, we have a bonus treat that they shared with us. If you were eyeing those refreshing cocktails like we were, you’re in luck! They shared two cocktail recipes with us that would be perfect for a spring or summer wedding (or as a refreshing treat at home)! Oh, and it’s affectionately named the “Oh Honey, I Dew.” Enjoy!

‘Oh Honey, I Dew’ Cocktail Ingredients (to make 1 cocktail)

Simple Syrup
1⁄2 honeydew melon (remove rind + seeds, cut into chunks) 1⁄2cupwater
1⁄2 cup sugar

Honeydew Infused Grapefruit Cocktail 2 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz gin
1⁄2 oz honeydew simple syrup

1 rosemary sprig

Directions
1. In a saucepan, combine water and sugar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves. 2. Remove pan from heat, stir in honeydew.
3. Pour syrup into jar/container, let steep and completely cool.
4. Once syrup has completely cooled, strain and remove honeydew.
5. Combine gin, grapefruit juice, and syrup into cocktail shaker filled halfway with ice
6. Shake until mixture is chilled, about 20-30 seconds
7. Strain into champagne coup, splash in a slice of lime, and garnish with a sprig of rosemary

Bright colorful blooms and bold navy and white stripes created the a fun and cheerful design palette for Sam and Mike’s Ohio wedding. They said their “I Do’s” in an outdoor ceremony under a beautiful greenery and floral arch while the aisle was lined with brightly colored ribbons blowing in the wind. We love that they chose such a fun and bold color palette for their late spring wedding, and it gives us all the fun summer vibes that we would hope for.

Between the design of the day by Oak & Honey Events and the beautiful imagery captured by Mann & Wife – Visual Storytellers, we feel like we were brought right into Sam and Mike’s celebration. Our favorite detail is the unique bar setup they chose with Sweet Water Caravan– it was a perfect fit for the eclectic and laid back style of the day, and made for the perfect photo op!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

Melanie Tindell of Oak and Honey Events was our wedding planner, so she helped a lot with the planning process before the wedding and the day of, she was a saint! The day wouldn’t have gone so perfectly without her!!

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

We decided to hire a wedding planner because I knew that they would help us pin point exactly what I was envisioning for our day, while working within our budget. Melanie was able to do both of those things!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

Our wedding was more of a color scheme, navy blue with bright colors. Our wedding day was May 28th, so I wanted the colors to reflect the season. It looked perfect!!

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Oh my gosh, it’s hard to pick just one thing that I loved about our wedding!! My top 3 would have to be our flowers, (by Fair Rarity flowers, they were stunning!), our food was delicious! It was BBQ food by Old Carolina BBQ. Our photographer Mann & Wife Photography was phenomenal…Honestly, it’s so hard to pick one because I loved everything about our day! It was perfect!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

The best piece of advice I could give is to not stress about the small stuff, because honestly the only thing that matters is that you’re marrying your best friend, everything else is just extra!

We love hearing their favorite moments from this special day. We definitely agree with Sam’s last bit of advice. She and Mike sure look like they enjoyed every moment of their wedding day, and that is truly what matters most!
