Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
While we do thoroughly enjoy traditional, classic weddings, we find that we best excel in vintage and eclectic aesthetics. We love being able to create unique, out-of-the-box pieces that tell your story, as well as use decor to add personality.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
Ashton Events desires to make each wedding a day completely centered around the couple. Our favorite details always have a subtle significance to the couples' story or heritage. One of our most recent client's had a passion for music, but wanted a vintage shabby chic look. So we used old song sheets throughout the decor for pinwheels, the various signage, garlands, as well as punched out hearts for the flower girl to throw instead of flowers. It was a great, subtle tribute to one of their biggest shared passions.
What is your favorite store or brand?
We love Anthropologie- they think everything through: details, creative displays, handcrafted art, etc. They value the artist and strive to carry unique items. They offer one-of-a-kind experiences each time you are in the store. We are also suckers for Apple and their effective, strategic communication that doesn't waste your time. We won't even mention the fact that they make technology seamless. We'd love to be considered a balance of both.
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
Start with your budget before you book any vendors and prioritize the different categories of the wedding. Note what is most important and give yourself room in your budget to have fun with it. We work through budget priorities in our first consultation with every client, and have found it to be a great foundation for the planning process.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
The first dance. Seeing the couple have just a few quiet moments on the floor to take in the day- after they have just enjoyed a sweet ceremony & have had a glimpse at the reception site. Even if in front of all the guests, it's a very private moment. All the hustle and bustle dies away, and they get to relish in the day together.
