Happy Monday everyone! This classic wedding planned by After the Engagement and photographed by Marin Rosche has a cool, laid-back California style that’s hard to resist. Set in the beach town of San Clemente, it features a Spanish-style venue, classic design, and a clean, crisp black and white color palette with burgundy accents…
From the bride, Elena:
We wanted our wedding to represent our Southern California roots: a relaxed atmosphere, Spanish style decor, an ocean backdrop, and, of course, delicious Mexican food. Our vision fell so easily into place when we saw the Casino San Clemente; a private mission-like venue over-looking the ocean in the laid back beach town of San Clemente.
We were also influenced by where we met, the University of Arizona in Tucson. I incorporated succulents into my bouquets and centerpieces as a nod to the desert city where we met 8 years earlier. Our guests dined on Mexican food while listening to country music, which offered a hint of Eric’s parents’ Texas roots. We included a candy bar with Eric’s favorite candies, and danced to a carefully selected soundtrack that had everyone on the dance floor.
The Casino has a hallway called History Hall, where they have old photographs of celebrities and events from over the years. We collected wedding photos of all of our grandparents and parents to make our own history hall; I loved the idea of paying tribute to the great marriages that had led us to where we were.
The wedding was so perfectly “us” and everything we wanted it to be; old California with a hint of modern, and the best night of our lives.
You know what they say: California knows how to party and that’s especially true of this group, who look like they’re having a fabulous time getting ready for the big day! To give my girls a little downtime from the craziness of the day, I had hair and make-up done separately (it was a process, y’all!), but looking back it would have been fun to pop a few bottles of champagne to get the celebration started early.
How do you plan to start your day? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
XOXO,
Carlee
