Interview
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I would consider my style to fall somewhere along the classic look with a modern twist. I love timeless images that document emotion and tell your story with bold vibrant color and dramatic lighting.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
It’s hard to pick just one. I love when couples find a way to incorporate something personal. One couple created escort cards/tables based around significant dates in their relationship. I thought that was super cute!
What is your favorite store or brand?
This changes fairly often, but right now for clothes I’m between this online shop called Jessakae (who has super pretty dresses!) and the old staples like Express and H&M. For decor I’m pretty obsessed with everything at West Elm And for all else, Target, because who doesn’t LOVE Target?
What advice do you have for a newly engaged couple?
Try not to sweat the small stuff. Sometimes it can be all too easy to get caught up in the event details that you lose sight of the big picture: The promise you and your beloved are making to spend forever together and the INCREDIBLE journey you’re about to embark on. Don’t let little hiccups along the planning process or even the day of cloud that out. Hire professionals that you trust and your day will go smooth and you can enjoy it instead of stressing!
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
I love not only the main love story between the bride and groom, but all the little sub stories that are playing out on the day. The emotion on dad’s face when he sees his little girl as a bride. The beaming smiles from the groom’s mother as she witnesses the exchange of vows. Documenting those moments is what makes me so stinkin’ excited to be a part of the day!
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
1. I was a bride before I became a photographer, so I truly understand what a huge responsibility I have as your wedding photographer and I take that responsibility very very seriously! 2. Past experience as a wedding photographer, understanding the flow of a wedding day, what shots I need to get and how to manage people e.g. during family photos where things can get a little hectic! 3. I’m big on organization and communication, so I am working with and talking to my clients regularly during the planning process, the wedding day and after the wedding to ensure we’re on the same page and that they are well taken care of!
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
Like I said before, communication and organization is a big deal for me and I’m very hands on with caring for clients. I do what I can to help prepare them for the big day by being available and providing tips and little surprises along the way. Prior to an engagement session or wedding day I take time to chat with them to ensure they understand how the session/day will flow, answer their questions and make sure that I have all the necessary information. I meet with them in person after both the engagement session and the wedding to show them their images and guide them through the best ways to display/enjoy their images, so they’re not left overwhelmed to figure it out alone.
