Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
My style is definitely classic and timeless. I edit light and airy with an emphasis on natural skin tones so that your photos never go out of style!
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
I love flowers! Bouquets, centerpieces, floral installments… I will take so many photos of your flowers! Rings and shoes are a second favorite!
What is your favorite store or brand?
I love Anthropologie, but let’s be honest… my most frequented stores are Target, Amazon & Starbucks.
What advice do you have for a newly engaged couple?
When you’re looking for photographers, pick someone who 1. You love your work and 2. You love their personality. It’s so important to have a good connection with your photographer because you will be with them more than anyone else on your wedding day and you want them to feel like a friend. Also, ask to see a full gallery from a recent wedding. Social media and website portfolios show the highlights, but it’s a good idea to see a full gallery to know what to expect from start to finish on a wedding day.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
I really love the toasts. Hearing about the two families behind the couple and their backstory is so special. That’s usually when I cry. I also love when we’re taking portraits and I take the shot that I know will be the one that gets enlarged and framed in their house.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
Before I was a wedding photographer, I was a third grade teacher for 5 years. I’m also the oldest of 4 siblings, so I’m outgoing, (can be) loud, good at directing a rowdy crowd and keeping everyone on schedule. This helps me keep everything organized and on track on wedding days and I think it gives my couples peace of mind. I’m also very detailed in my posing and a lot of my couples have said they appreciate that since otherwise they wouldn’t know what to do.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
My clients become my friends. The initial consultation and engagement session are all about building relationships. I give my brides my phone number and they text me and call me all throughout the planning process, so we get to know each other really well. I think this is so important for wedding days because they feel comfortable with me and they see me as a friend they trust.
