Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
We are able to design every wedding from a blank canvas as we take the time to find out what each of our client's needs and wants are. If a bride wants something modern, we pull the from the current trends in the wedding industry. If a bride love something rustic or vintage, we have a plenty of inventory to make that happen. If a bride is classic and traditional, we break out all the romance. Eclectic, that is easy to do in a city filled with artistic and interesting spaces.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
My favorite details from weddings in general is the bridal bouquet or a groom's lapel (yeah – sorry that is two). We create them almost every weekend. It is the most important design detail of the day. Why? After the wedding is over with you will always have that picture of you and your spouse on your wall, at the office, at your mom's house and in your wallet that has you holding that bridal bouquet or wearing that boutonniere. It won't be a photo of the cake or the centerpiece.
What is your favorite store or brand?
My favorite store – huh that is a hard one as I hate shopping for myself. I tend to buy a lot of vintage and statement jewelry – so wherever there are big chunky necklaces – I'm there. My favorite brand at the moment is Tiek's. We featured them a while ago in our magazine and they are an eco-friendly company. About 8 months later the rest of the wedding industry finally caught on to them and they are catching like wildfire. They are a very loyal brand, take care of me as a blogger and their shoes are comfy and their branding is in Aqua (my obsession)!
What advice do you have for a newly engaged couple?
First thing is to set boundaries with your family members and set a budget. Once you have established those parameters…wedding planning gets 100% easier.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
I love that every single weekend my job is different. I never do the same thing over and over again. I love the stories of how people meet and fall in love and I generally just love being surrounded by fun and lovely things…which is really what a wedding is all about these days!
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
I am patient and I don't get stressed out by any of this! I love what I do. One of my biggest strengths is my experience and Type A personality. Having my degree in accounting and over 15 years in the industry under my belt has made a difference.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
Unlimited communication. Just like marriage, communication is key. As long as I have all the information, our team can execute anything! We also have one of the largest teams in the DC area – so every wedding has a back-up to a back-up.
