Wow, so it’s the second-to-last week of July! I don’t know what it is, but July always seems to fly by for me! (Maybe because my birthday is at the very end of it- the 29th to be exact!)

Well, let’s start off this second-to-last week of July with a gorgeous yellow Lake Michigan wedding from Bryan and Mae! I’m telling you- it’s just absolutely beautiful! Oh and keep an eye out for something new I’m trying out for ELD wedding features, wedding insights from the bride!

What helped you most in your wedding planning process?

Picking the brains of other friends and family members who were recent brides was so helpful during the planning process. Whether it was to get a request for a vendor, or to ask how far in advance I should tackle a certain task, they were often the best resource out there. For inspiration, I looked through pictures of other people’s weddings on websites, blogs, and in magazines.

What was your favorite part of the wedding?

Honestly, I loved every moment of our wedding, starting with the moment I turned to walk down the aisle. I was so nervous (to the point of feeling like I may throw up!) all day long, and as soon as I looked down the aisle at my then fiance, I felt all the emotion I had been keeping inside. From that point on, I enjoyed it all. Our ceremony was perfect and we had so much fun celebrating with family and friends for the rest of the evening. If only it didn’t go by so fast :)

And a little more insight from the bride, Emily…

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I relied a lot on getting recommendations from people when selecting a vendor. As much as it can help to read reviews online, there is nothing like having an honest, candid conversation with a friend who used the vendor already.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

We loved every single vendor we used! Our photographers, Bryan and Mae, really went out of their way to get to know us before the wedding. We got to spend several hours with them having coffee and doing engagement photos, and I certainly spent lots of time talking with Mae whether it be via phone or email. That made us feel so comfortable with them on the actual wedding day — it felt like we had two of our friends there with us, only they were sticking cameras in our faces :)

Our florist was awesome and so flexible, and he even made us a floral arrangement out of the flowers from our arbor (at the ceremony) and put it in our hotel room. It was such a small, sweet, gesture that really touched me.

Our DJ was scheduled to do the music at our ceremony which was supposed to be outside. The whole day the weather made our ceremony plans touch and go, and our DJ just rolled with the punches! He was ready to be set up outside or in our backup location at a moments notice, which really relieved some stress. He kept telling us “don’t worry, it will be beautiful and we WILL be outside” .. his positivity was so nice.

Thank you so much for sharing your wedding insights with us Emily! :) And a big thank you to Bryan and Mae for sharing her gorgeous yellow wedding with us!

So pretty and so unique. I love the shot of the bride and groom embracing each other in the lower left corner of a washed out image. It really shows the emotion. So lovely!

Love the yellow and grey color palette! And that ring shot is too cute! Happy Birthday in advance!
