I love this wedding from The R2 Studio because it’s a DIY wedding with a classic style, and it’s yellow, one of my favorite colors for weddings! We don’t see many “classic” DIY weddings anymore, so I was excited to share it with you all! :) Oh and I have some great insight from the bride Sarah to share with you all as well!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

A few different websites were a huge help when it came to ideas- weddinggawker.com and etsy.com were my favorites. Weddingwire.com was a big help when it came to making our website and actually planning the wedding. We were able to hire vendors with outstanding reviews, and I think that having done so is what made our big day run so smoothly. We were so happy about how beautifully things went.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

Professionalism was a big thing, but previous customer reviews on wedding websites had the biggest influence on who we chose. Then, making sure what the vendor had to offer included the aspects or details we were looking for. It’s such an important day, it made us feel so much better to know we were in good hands.

Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

Our photographers, Robin and Renee from The R2 Studio, captured the day so perfectly and beautifully. They are both so talented! Their personalities really play a part in their photography- they are really fun, and helped us feel relaxed. And when it came to business, they were very professional.

Jessica, from our ceremony and reception location (The Waterfront), was really wonderful. She kept in contact with our vendors so that everyone was on the same page. And on the day-of, she was everywhere making sure things were running smoothly, and helping us out! She was a real blessing.

Our DJ, Joe from Celebrity DJ, really went above and beyond. The DJ really runs the whole wedding night, and we wanted to try and make sure that everything would run smoothly for everyone there. Joe helped plan out the night, the music was exactly what we hoped for, and his charisma really added to the whole process.

These things and so many more really made everything feel so special. We feel so grateful to have had such a great experience, and we think it was because of our outstanding vendors. I’m sure all of our vendors give this level of service to everyone.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding was getting married to the love of my life. It was also great to see how everything ended up coming together, and getting to be with all of our family and friends.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

There are so many little details to think about, and they all won’t go as you planned! Don’t let them get to you- it’s not worth it! Enjoy your time planning your wedding, and you’ll be walking down the aisle to your love even if your table cloths are “champagne” instead of “eggshell”. :)
The people and vendors you hire definitely set a tone at your wedding. Your venue and photographer should probably be number one on your priority list. If you love where you’re getting married, everything else will fall into place, and the pictures are a big part of how you will remember it all. Number two, your DJ. They completely run the night (or day) and how things pan out in your wedding schedule! Number three, your caterer. How well things are being prepared and served are very noticeable to a big group of family and friends! :) Choose well- definitely do your research and read reviews!

Such great advice Sarah, thank you for sharing your insight about your wedding! :) I just love all of the yellow used, and of course the utterly classic style of the wedding. A big thank you to The R2 Studio for sharing their fabulous photography with us!

How many of you are planning on doing some DIY for your wedding? Are any of you going for a more classic style?

Our wedding will definitely be more of a classic style. Traditional wedding dress and tux (minus the bowtie and tails). It’s almost entirely DIY (I LOVE having special touches that mean so much to us as a couple). My aunt is an amazing wedding cake designer and she will be doing our cake. My mom and I are putting together all the floral arrangements including bouquets. My friend is designing a monogram for our menu cards, table name cards, etc. I am printing our invitations…the list is rather extensive! :)

Beautiful!! I love her dress. It looks so dreamy in the photo of the couple’s feet with the flowers. Lovely details too.

I really love the wedding tree on this diy yourself wedding; especially the thumb prints as leaves.
