In my opinion, your wedding invitations are one of THE most important details of your wedding. Not only do they provide your guests with information, but they set the tone and expectations for your wedding guests. One of the things I wish I could have done differently for my own wedding was wedding invitations. I waited a little too long, and therefore wasn’t able to find and customize the right wedding invitations to suit my wedding well.

So in an effort to provide you with a bit more information about wedding invitations, I wanted to share a few tidbits from the experts at Basic Invite, an awesome wedding invitation resource!

When To Send Your Wedding Invitations

Most couples will want to send out their wedding invitations six to eight weeks before their wedding. If having a destination wedding, we recommend sending up to 3 months in advance to give your guests enough time to make arrangements.

When To Start Designing Your Wedding Invitations

Taking into account when you need to send your invitations, there is nothing wrong with starting early on designing them. At Basic Invite we recommend starting on your wedding invitation design 4-6 months prior to your wedding dateno later than a month in advance of when you need to order your wedding invitations.

When To Order Your Wedding Invitations

At Basic Invite we recommend ordering your wedding invitations 2-4 months prior to your wedding date, but no later than 2 weeks before you need to send them.  This will give you enough time to have multiple people look over your invitation before you need them printed.  With something as important as a wedding, rushing through your wedding invitations can cause unneeded stress if you try to do them last minute.
