What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

My (now) husband and I did most of the big idea planning from afar and my Mother helped me check items off the lists!  She planned my sisters wedding a few years ago and knew exactly what to do!  The innkeeper at Magnolia Manor was wonderful… helping us put our ideas into reality for the big day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I always wanted an elegant, simple and country wedding- which in theory sounds easy but is not!  Once we found Magnolia Manor, we knew it was perfect.  Since I live 3 1/2 hours away from the wedding location, it was very important that she could take care of everything!  We sent a suggested menu, had one planning meeting and everything fell into place.  A ‘turnkey’ wedding was perfect for us- we didn’t have to sign a million contracts, and had a ‘built-in’ wedding planner!

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My grandmothers were my main inspiration… they were elegant, classy and always themselves.  What I strive for everyday! I wanted to have a wedding that was comfortable, not too serious and mostly fun for both families coming to celebrate.   We (my husband and I) wanted it to feel like a Sunday supper!  I picked my favorite things- blue and white china, homemade anything (especially pickles and quilts!), roses, hydrangeas and made that the common thread for the day.  I tried not to look at too many pictures and to always go with my gut instinct.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing was the weather that day & the food!  We had a 3 p.m. outdoor wedding in November… very risky! It ended up being 70+ degrees that day and cooler that night.  Our guests were able to enjoy the sunshine and play some games during the cocktail hour and then sit down to a delicious dinner… It made the day feel that much longer and relaxing and a day everyone was able to enjoy! We were also married by the same Pastor that married my parents and that was so very special for us.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best piece of advice… elope! Just kidding!  Always remember what the end goal is- a wedding and a new family formed.  The best advice we received was that anything over the vows was frills – don’t try to do everything, and do what you want at the same time- it is a delicate balance!

I think I’m in love! I absolutely adore how these two knew their style and truly made it a part of their wedding day from the venue to the decor you can really tell they thought about everything.

And, I love her advice! Don’t sweat the small things and keep remembering that at the end of the day, you are going to be married to your true love! One of the biggest ways to make sure you aren’t stressing before your big day is to have a team of amazing wedding pros behind you so you can relax and just enjoy!

So who do you have behind you that you know is going to make sure your day is extra fantastic? (If you are looking for some of those amazing wedding vendors check out Every Last Vendor!) And how amazing are her bridesmaids’ outfits?! Those glittery skirts- LOVE!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!

Cheers!

Samm

The cotton field photos are so beautiful. I love the rustic feel they give the image.

You left out the best part…why no photos of Slappy? It would not have been the same without him.
