Inspired by the groom’s grandfather’s Ford Model A pickup truck, this vintage blue and yellow backyard wedding is so fun! Full of vintage and DIY details (the centerpieces even incorporated the antique car theme!), Courtney of Fabulously Chic Events was there to make sure the day went off without a hitch, and Matt Steeves Photography was there to capture it all!

From the bride, Laura:

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

When planning the wedding and creating all our DIY details my super crafting mother-in-law came to my rescues. Combing thrift stores, yard sales, and flea markets for everything from milk glass to vintage pitchers to the fabric for the linens she made for the tables. But when it came to the selecting vendors and the day of execution of all our ideas I knew I wanted Courtney with Fabulously Chic. She was so nice and supportive throughout the process. And she made sure that even though the reception was at my family’s home we all felt like guests on the wedding day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

That they were organized, knowledgable, and creative. I have never planned a wedding and since we weren’t going with a traditional hotel venue I want someone who could guide me and be sure it all came together.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

The inspiration came from a Ford model A pickup truck that was left to my husband by his late grandfather. The car is classic, simple, and stunning.  We were able to use vintage car decanters he collected since the 40’s in our center pieces to really bring this idea to life and had our ceremony at the Edison Ford Winter Estates.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Having the reception in my own backyard. This really captured how casual and relaxed my husband and I are, all night people said they just felt like they were having dinner with us.

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

Don’t get bogged down in it. The process should be fun and about your marriage. And ask for help!!! Whether it be a planner, friends, or family. Just like marriage you can’t do it alone.

I think if you’re having a backyard wedding like Laura did, it’s really important to have someone else there to help out… everyone works so hard leading up to the wedding day, that they deserve to be able to sit down and enjoy the fruits of their labor!

I especially love how Laura and Tyler incorporated the vintage cars into their decor as a tribute to Tyler’s grandfather! Are any of you planning on incorporating something meaningful into your wedding? What is it, and what will you be doing?
