Interview
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I see myself as 'classic' because of the way I approach my photos. One of my goals is to create images that outlast any trends. Trends come and go, but classics are called classics for a reason - they are timeless and enduring.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
Oh I cannot possibly pick a favorite!! Here's the thing with me and details. I LOVE them. But I love them the most when they have a purpose and are done well and done thoughtfully. I’m always drawn towards elegant simplicity when it comes to details. I truly believe less can be more when done correctly.
What is your favorite store or brand?
Anthropologie
What advice do you have for a newly engaged couple?
I know it's tempting to jump online and start planning right away, but take a second to let this amazing moment soak in! Take a breather and enjoy being a fiancé! I would also highly recommend that you stay OFF of Pinterest for the initial planning stages. Pinterest can be very helpful but can be extremely overwhelming. Turn your app off and really consider you and your partner as a couple. What makes you two YOU? What are your passions? What do you enjoy together? What are you envisioning together? Get a rough idea in your head of what YOUR style is and start finding venues/locations that reflect that. Don't get back onto Pinterest until you have a solid grasp on what your own personal style and vibe is. I’m also a big advocate of the question, “Why?” Why do you want to incorporate that detail or that color palette? Is it because you want it or is it because that’s what Pinterest says is on trend? I would encourage you to use “Why?” as a frame of reference throughout your planning.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
The joy. There is so much pure, authentic joy on wedding days and I love getting to be a fly on the wall to document candid reactions and real emotions.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
I'm patient and flexible. I empathize with the stress and emotions that brides and grooms are feeling, so I consider it my role (and privilege) to be a calming, reassuring presence for you throughout the planning process and on your big day.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
When you’re a part of the NJP wedding family, you receive VIP treatment :). I work hard to make sure my clients feel loved and appreciated from the time they book to well after the wedding. I don’t take weddings lightly and I don’t take every wedding that comes my way. I love developing a relationship with my couples – getting to know them as individuals rather than just a name on my calendar enables me to serve them in the best possible way. In terms of wedding prep, I work extensively with my clients to create a well-thought out timeline that gives us the right amount of time for photos so that nothing is rushed. I educate my brides on how to plan their day for the best possible photos and I provide checklists so that my brides are fully prepped for their photos. It may seem like a lot of work up front, but my goal is for you to be able to sit back and ENJOY your wedding day, because that’s what it’s all about.
