Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I see my store as being Classic with a Modern twist. The reason for this is because we pride ourselves in the quality fabric and design that goes into every one of our designer's gowns. They really are heirloom pieces. However, that being said, we do love to put a modern spin on things! I love a classic dress for the ceremony and for the reception, add a funky belt or a fun chunky necklace to spice things up. Classic with a twist.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
My favorite wedding detail I've ever seen is always beautiful tents with gorgeous chandeliers hanging from the centers. There is something about that that just screams romantic. My favorite thing I've ever created in a completely detachable and custom skirt to a dress. For the ceremony we kept it very classic. It was a seemingly all lace gown with beaded detail throughout the bodice and skirt. Then hidden underneath were small clasps so she could actually take off the full skirt and have a beaded party dress underneath it. We had a matching beaded applique lace veil and it was probably the most stunning and different look I have done.
What is your favorite store or brand?
Anything and everything Kate Spade does has me smitten!
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
It will all come together! The saddest thing to me is when a bride is down in the dumps about her wedding day because she is listening to other's opinions or is bogged down with any sort of pressure. Enjoy this time! You will never have this time again! You are getting married to the love of your life... who cares what anyone else thinks and have fun with the process! I promise, everything will work out in the end.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
Well I guess I'll answer this by saying my favorite part of a wedding... it is always the grooms face when he sees his bride for the first time. There is nothing quite like that moment in time. Knock his socks off gals!
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
I think my forte is really enjoying each bride's story. No bride is the same and no bride should have the exact same dress just pumped out of a factory. I want to get to know each bride and exactly what will work best for her. I want her friends and family to say, "Oh that dress is so her!" I'm also very patient. I know that this is a big day for the bride! I know she may want to discuss earrings for a couple of hours and hey, so do I! I think being able to put yourself is someone else's shoes and get a perfect idea of what they want is an art form and I think all of the girls at Malindy Elene do it perfectly :)
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
I think really listening to the bride is key. What does she want and what does she need? Those are the questions that we are good at getting to and being able to fulfill those things are what is going to make a perfect day. When a bride comes into our store, we take the time to sit them down with their entourage and talk about their wedding dress but also the other details of their wedding. By getting a picture of who they are and what they want their entire wedding to be like, we can envision a gown for them. We then pull some options for them and then the bride has free reign to try on anything else they may like.
Our brides are not another number at Malindy Elene. I know every one of my clients by name (I'm not exaggerating here). I think you cannot fully be apart of a huge experience in someone's life if you don't really know. We take the time to get to know our brides and their families and that will always make for a fun, relaxed and exciting wedding experience!
