Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
My style is a classic take on modern wedding imagery. It's bright, full of light, and romantic - with an eye for details and intimate moments of joy.
What is your favorite wedding detail you've ever seen or created?
I love intimate, personal details - things with meaning. I had a bride once remake her mother's wedding gown. I had the honor of photographing her getting ready with her mother, and then as she did a first look with her father - that moment, when he saw his daughter in his wife's wedding dress, about to take the next step in her own beautiful life journey - THAT is my favorite detail. It's so much less about the thing than the legacy and the moment that was captured when that legacy came full circle. Being able to capture those details - that makes my heart beat and (if I'm honest) my tears well up.
What is your favorite store or brand?
You're gonna make me pick just one?! Such a hard choice, but I could spend days upon days in Anthropologie (but my husband - and bank account - would never let me).
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
I think in life, whatever stage you're in, it's easy to get so focused on where we are going that we forget to enjoy the here and now. My advice is to stop, breathe, and just enjoy the moment you're in. Enjoy being engaged. Enjoy the planning. This is beautiful stage of life - a precious short breath of air that will be gone before you know it. Drink it in. Cherish it. And have fun!
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
Weddings are about hope, love, and joy. Three things we need to cling to in life that should be celebrated to the fullest extent. Nothing makes me happier than capturing those moments and preserving them forever.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
Being a great photographer is awesome - and necessary - but without people skills, empathy, kindness, and joy for others - well, it's all sort of empty. I am genuinely invested in my clients as individual people and see their joys and celebrations as my own. I want to make them happy - and I want to create wedding day magic with them and celebrate their joy alongside them.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
We communicate and organize! I meet and talk with clients personally to ensure we're on the same page. Additionally, I only accept a limited number of clients every year because I want to make sure my clients get my full attention and energy. Once I'm yours - I'm all in. I'm there for you every step of the way.
