There is just something so fresh and fun about this week’s Vendor of the Week, north Florida wedding photographer Pure Sugar Studios! And not only are Kelly’s images fun, but she is too! I’m so honored to be able to introduce you to her today…
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
I think my imagery is crisp, clean, and bright. The colors are vivid, but are still real {not overly saturated}. I capture the real emotion and essence of the couple. I thinks it really important for my clients to look back at their album in 20 years, and still feel it is what they looked like. I think vintage may come and go, but clean and classic imagery will always hold up. I think the modern is in the posing, keeping it fresh and fun {for myself and my couples}!
What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?
Hmmm, that is tough! It has to be food- but not any food, a ‘smores table at a wedding I did in November by Matthew’s. Everything looked so yum, and the challenge of capturing all that and making it look as good on film as it did on the table. I also like anything I get to do with my macro!
What is your favorite store or brand?
Kate Spade and J crew
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
The emotion, and meeting the couples. I love getting the time alone with them, and watching their love story unfold. The more a couple enjoys each other, the more they will enjoy their images – and the process of making the images. And I love the rush- the speed, the stress- it all comes together, and makes each wedding different.
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
I think I am fun, and laid back. I also used to be a planner, so I am very used to tense crazy situations, and solving them. When their wedding day is said and done, I want them to be thankful they hired me, not just for their amazing images, but because they enjoy the process of it all as well. I am also a crazy emotional sap- and love to capture all of that- and bring it all out. I think most clients encompass a fun side, and some emotional parts- some more than others- I make sure their images cover both sides.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
First I have a very detailed questionnaire that they fill out. This is a wonderful way to get to know them and what makes their relationship special, but it also allows them to have some time to really think about what all this wedding stuff means. Then, we go through all of the details in advance- the dress, the flowers, and special extras. I like to make sure I can minimize the surprises on the wedding day. I also mail them out a wonderful book on marriage at the start of the process, and a starbucks {or something similar} gift card the month before, so they remember where all this craziness leads. I want the connection and the images to be fun, romantic and relaxed and I think being a part of their marriage enables that.
