Silly long weekends- I have to keep reminding myself what day it is! It’s time for this week’s ELV Vendor of the Week! This week I am honored to introduce you to the floral design company Myrtie Blue! (Awesome name, right?!) Myrtie Blue is based in the Florida Panhandle and creates absolutely gorgeous florals! Let’s learn a little more about Myrtie Blue, shall we?
Why do you see yourself as being Modern, Vintage, Classic, or Eclectic?
As artists we are naturally eclectic, and as designers we connect with each style to bring the appropriate look to each event. We believe the combination of working as artists and as designers ensures a unique and thoughtful look and experience for each wedding and celebration.
What is your favorite wedding detail you’ve ever seen or created?
Custom monogrammed pillows for a lounge area. We pulled the digital image of the couple’s monogram directly from their invitation and sent it to our source for digital embroidering and had custom monogrammed dupioni silk throw pillows on hand for one of the lounge areas at the reception. The couple was thrilled!
What is your favorite store or brand?
Anthropologie – House & Home. Eclectic, eclectic, eclectic!
What advice do you have for a newly engaged bride?
Know what you like and have fun during the planning process! We designers love to let unexpected details emerge during the planning process and those details can make your wedding stand out. Having a sense what you like and playfulness lets those unexpected and PERSONAL details happen.
What is your favorite thing about weddings?
The entire process of bringing a wedding to fruition! The initial consultation, the sourcing of goods, the floral design, etc. There are so many wonderful layers to putting together a thoughtful and beautiful wedding. Watching it all come to life on wedding day is just plain joyful!
What qualities do you possess that enable you to work well with brides and grooms?
We have an intuitive sense of what couples want. When you can combine that with good listening skills, we think it makes it much easier to create beautifully unique weddings and wedding flowers.
What steps do you take to ensure that your clients will have amazing wedding days when working with you?
Open lines of communication and detailed design outlines are essential. Of course, diligent planning and organization keep every wedding on track. Having open lines of communication with you bride and groom coupled with a well written and illustrated Design Outline/Proposal keep unpleasant surprises at bay – allowing the beauty of their wedding to shine!
