This gorgeous Alabama wedding from j.woodbery photography has absolutely stolen my heart! This couple incorporated their sweet southern roots in a lovely outdoor celebration, and with a beautiful vintage style, this down home southern wedding hit all the marks. The lovely bride, Ashley, is here with us today to share her planning experience with us:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mom (the Details Queen), and Alyse (my sister/Fashion Coordinator), were a huge help during the entire process; I couldn’t have pulled it off with such ease without them. We also had lots of help from Katie at Engaged, A Wedding Library in Homewood, AL and from Stephanie and Tammy at Mathews Manor.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I wanted to enjoy the planning and have a relaxed and stress-free wedding day. My main concern was being comfortable with everyone we worked with!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Natural beauty, with a little vintage romance. We both love being outside and enjoying nature and I love all things vintage.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Mathew’s Manor was the perfect venue, and I loved all of the personal touches throughout the day. Nathan designed and built the curtain aisle entrance, my mom handstitched my wedding date into the hem of my gown as my “something blue”, we used Nathan’s dad’s vintage truck to arrive and leave, and my dad played guitar and sang to kick off the reception.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Enjoy the planning process! When you find yourself getting bogged down in the details, take a deep breath (and maybe pour yourself a glass of wine) and remember that in the end you are marrying the man you love and that’s all that really matters!
One of my favorite little details are the colorful fans available for guests to use during the ceremony! What a fun, bright way to provide some relief from the hot sun. And how cute is the music paper underneath the centerpieces? I love that touch!
What kind of details are you planning on incorporating into your own wedding? I’d love to hear!
Vendors who made it all happen…

You guys are having too much fun here. I love the photos with the wooded background.
Very nice,

Those beer cozies are TOO cute!!
Michelle, the sheet music incorporated into the centerpieces was the music for Into the Mystic by Van Morrison which was our 1st dance song! We met at a concert and music is special to both of us, so we thought it was a fun personal touch to include, thanks for noticing :)
