Hey there everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I spent my weekend hanging out in a Panera while my husband took the first part of his chiropractic boards. It. Was. FUN. (Um, kidding.) But it’s all part of being the supportive wife, right? Well, on to today’s wedding. It’s southern, rustic and elegant… all things that are absolutely wonderful together! Gregg Willett Photography did an awesome job capturing this Georgia wedding. The gorgeous bride, Heather, is joining us to share her wedding planning insight, so be on the lookout for some tips on how she planned her rustic southern wedding!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I could not imagine planning my wedding without the help of my mama. She played a major role in planning my wedding day and making sure no detail was overlooked!! My wedding director/planner helped things to go so smoothly on the Big Day. It meant so much to know I had someone so experienced to be in control of the flow of events on the wedding day. I researched so many wedding details using websites and bridal magazines!! I created a wedding website to share information about our wedding with family and friends! I also purchased a wedding planner that was small enough to be carried in my purse so that I could look up phone numbers and make notes throughout the day! I used checklists from various resources throughout the planning process.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
The most important thing to me when deciding on vendors was the quality of their work. I researched vendors by reading their websites and looking at pictures of their work. I also talked with friends who had used the vendors for their weddings. Getting good reviews from friends and knowing how pleased they were to have used the vendors made me feel good about using them, too!
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
The wedding director helped my daddy plan a sweet, special surprise for the bride and groom! Our beautiful, precious schnauzer, Grailey, made a surprise appearance at our reception! The band announced that the bride and groom should go to the dance floor. I immediately looked at the wedding director and she was also directing us to the dance floor. We made our way to the middle of the dance floor as the other guests cleared the floor. All of a sudden, Grailey came running around the corner of the stage wearing a white wedding dress! We couldn’t believe our eyes! It was such a wonderful surprise and meant so much to have her there to share our Special Day!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about my wedding is knowing that all the planning and preparation was worthwhile! It was beautiful and so memorable! Looking back, I would not change anything. It was perfect! It means so much to still have people who attended the wedding approach me and tell me how beautiful my wedding was!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My best advice for other brides is to be sure and enjoy your weddng day. Your Big Day will go by very fast so choose to enjoy every minute of it while it lasts! Try your best to relax and be prepared to make wonderful memories that will last forever!
