Anna and Thomas celebrated their Pennsylvania wedding day on a mountain top at the Whitewoods event venue. A cozy reception with an elegant, rustic style and simple green and gold details accented with pops of burgundy created a warm and welcoming space for guests to gather and celebrate the new husband and wife.

Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.
I started with a very soft romantic theme that was very natural/ organic looking. Lots of greenery and simple decorations that were pulled together to look elegant. The colors we chose were green and ivory with pops of navy and maroon. Whitewoods was the most perfect location for us. My now husband loves the outdoors so we wanted a setting that was picture perfect and romantic.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
The venue. We wanted a venue that spoke for itself. A venue that needed little decoration to provide the feel we wanted on our big day. We splurged on photography. We looked at many options that were cheaper and noticed that the quality of what we wanted wasn’t there. We wanted someone to catch our organic feelings from that day through a picture. Danielle Coons did that and so much more.
What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories)
Danielle Coons actually provided my husband and I with our favorite memory from our wedding day. During the salads she took us outside to get some sunset pictures. While taking pictures and posing us she would tell one of us to tell the other one what we first thought when we saw each other at the aisle. Those ended up being our favorite pictures because it showed the love and happiness we felt in that moment.
Did you include any family heirlooms or special traditions?
On my bouquet my mom gave me a rosary that my grandmother, my mother and I all carried on our wedding day. Our initials and wedding dates are engraved on the cross. Thomas and his brother, the best man, had a handkerchief that his sister gave them on her wedding day that had their fathers saying embroidered on it. His father passed away several years ago. On the cake table we had my grandfathers wedding cake topper who was a 100 at our wedding. We also had several family pictures of loved ones that couldn’t be part of our day. With the bride side of the family being polish the bridal (dollar) dance was a must to traditional polka music. We also had had a special dance with our grandparents that was very special to us both.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mom and wedding planner Nancy. My mom would meet with Nancy on a weekly basis to talk wedding. Due to living out of state my mother did most of the wedding planning and meetings. She listened to want I wanted and communicated it to all my vendors.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
BREATHE and savor every moment. It is a stressful but wonderful time. If you don’t take a step back and look at the bigger picture of the wedding and your soon to be new life of husband and wife you won’t enjoy the journey of wedding planning. Also communication. Most of our arguments were due to not understanding the goals we were trying to reach. It is a sensitive time for everyone with much emotion so being understanding and listening is key to enjoying this amazing time.
