I love this beautiful purple and aqua wedding, taking place at a historic house! In California we don’t get too many “Southern”-style weddings (more like Southwestern), so I can’t get enough of this vintage charm! I’m loving all the detail shots by Best Photography, and all the photos of Sarah and Jason- a couple so obviously in love! :)

From the bride:

We had our ceremony and reception at a historic house built in 1915 with outdoor space and large oak trees with Spanish Moss. Our venue was our inspiration for our romantic, vintage southern wedding.Ā

So many people helped us come up with ideas for the wedding – most notably my mom Kathy, stepmom Suzy, and Aunt Ann. My sisters Amy and Rachel and bridesmaids Jen and Shira also deserve praise for their ideas and support. On my wedding day, my bridesmaids and our site’s day of coordinator Emily were amazing!

Besides marrying my best friend and celebrating with our close friends and family, I loved having a smaller wedding (60 guests) and the intimate atmosphere created by the venue staff (this place can hold up to 250, but it didn’t feel too large for us).

The stress is natural. Just don’t loose sight of the fact that you are not just planning a one day wedding, but beginning a marriage that is meant to last a lifetime. Also, you can’t please everyone, so focus on trying to please yourself and your partner.

I have to admit – that venue makes me drool. I LOVE the vintage Southern charm! I kind of want to see if there’s anywhere here in Southern California that could be a great Southern-inspired venue; I think with the right couple, it could be a beautiful day!

Would you consider letting your venue guide your theme? How can your venue inspire your wedding decor?
