Good morning, y’all! {When you post about Texas weddings, you have to say y’all in the intro.} I have such a lovely treat from Nicole Chatham Photography to get our week started. This backyard wedding is colorful, fun, beautiful, and best of all, intimate. I’ve always been a fan of backyard weddings because of that simple fact: they’re personal. So take some time out of your Monday to sit back and enjoy Keith and Kristen’s big day.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My background of event planning, combined with my Mom’s creative vision and unconditional support, was most helpful in ensuring that the day was exactly as we wanted it. On my wedding day, I made sure that my Mom, wedding planner, and cousin knew exactly what I wanted and expected. This allowed me to let go and enjoy the day because I knew that there were multiple people checking on the vendors and set-up.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We planned our wedding in four weeks, so I relied heavily on our wedding planner to propose vendors. With that being said, my Mom and I went over every detail and proposal to ensure it was the right fit for us. When it wasn’t, we spoke up and switched vendors when needed. We did not compromise on our vision because we were short on time. Wedding planners are fabulous, but I think it is extremely important to ensure you are getting what you want and expect from the vendors and not rely solely on your planner.
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
I really loved the attitude of my catering manager and photographer. Both of them had a calm about them that made me very comfortable, they listened to what I wanted and proposed solutions and alternatives to make my vision better. If I had it to do over again, I would make sure that each vendor I hired made me feel like they did. Throughout the day, both of them were reassuring, and let me know what was going on and what to expect.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite thing about my wedding was the location. We were married at my parents’ ranch, and every time I go there, I think about our wedding.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Go into planning your wedding knowing what you want and stick to your vision and wishes!
I love how Kristen’s favorite part of her day was that it took place at her parents’ ranch so whenever she visits she can always remember her wedding. So special. Thanks for sharing with us, Kristen. And a big thank you to Nicole Chatham for passing along these beautiful photos to help brighten our Monday.
How much do you love Kristen’s dress… and the fact that the groom wore jeans? SO Texas, right? :) Have a great week, y’all!
