This New York garden wedding is just gorgeous! It’s intimate, has some awesome details, and looks like it was a ton of fun! Luciebelle Photography was able to capture some absolutely amazing moments- I just love the “glow” that the bride, Kendra, exudes. You can tell that she is so happy! Kendra is sharing some of her wedding insight with us too, so keep an eye out for her story throughout the photos!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My mom! I was in grad school while planning my wedding and a lot of the work fell to her. She has incredible taste, plus her level-headed attitude always helped me keep things in perspective.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Cost was definitely a major factor, and luckily we found great vendors who were willing to work in our budget. We made some unconventional choices with our vendors and venue, but in the end the wedding was more ‘us’ than any pre-packaged wedding could have been – I guess I would say trust your gut when choosing who to work with!
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
The owner of our reception venue was incredible. He made sure every detail was taken care of leading up to the wedding and on the day-of, and he did everything so calmly and confidently that even in our most panicked pre-wedding moments we knew everything would work out!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
The flowers! We went with a flower grower instead of a traditional ‘floral designer’ and we couldn’t have been happier! Bernadette (of the River Garden) totally understood the wild flower feeling we were going for. She worked with our colors and our favorite flowers but also surprised us with unexpected touches that were better than anything we could have dreamed up ourselves. Plus, every single stem was from her local organic flower farm – no hothouse or flown-in flowers for us! My mom and I collected all the jars and hand tied pink, green and cream colored ribbons (from Paper Trail in Rhinebeck) around every single one before Bernadette filled them with her beautiful flowers!
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Delegate! Go ahead and micro-manage in the planning process but make sure to hand off the day-of responsibilities to a small group of family and friends. In the days leading up to the wedding we made a detailed list of all the little day-of duties (gifts, cards, directions, etc!) and made sure that someone was in charge of each one. That way we were able to really relax and enjoy our party!
Thank you so much for sharing your wedding insight with us Kendra, and congratulations!
Wow, I am absolutely loving the flowers! I love that they were grown locally- that’s the way to go the eco-friendly route if you want to use flowers. Oh, did you catch the food served family-style on the tables- including lobster?! Love that idea! And Luciebelle Photography captured such amazing shots of the day! Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! What do you think? Do you love this garden wedding as much as I do? Are any of you planning a “garden” wedding like this?
Vendors who made it all happen…
