This modern gray, white, and yellow wedding that I have for you all today is an excellent way to start off this week! The colors- classic and chic; the details- fabulous; and the photography- well, it’s by KT Crabb Photography, so it’s absolutely gorgeous! The bride, Vi, has shared some of her wedding planning insight with us today too, so enjoy!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
We would definitely say that Lisa, our day-of coordinator, gave us the best vendors or suggestions for our day. She helped keep us stay organized and most importantly, gave us peace of mind! Peace of mind that everything would run smoothly the day of the wedding. That is the best feeling… to have complete trust in the vendors and that Lisa would be there to overcome any obstacles. Her team were “all hands on deck” for our day and I believe that it was a success because of their teamwork.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
Reliability and customer service. We wanted our vendors to envision our day and really care about the service they were providing. We looked for professionalism, friendliness, and if they understood what we wanted. Lisa was a great start to get us to interview who she thought would be good fits for our budget and our personalities and we went from there. We wanted vendors we wouldn’t need to worry about getting the job done. That was a BIG relief.
Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?
Melissa, from the Bohemian Hotel in Celebration where our guests stayed and where we held our rehearsal dinner and meet and greet event, went above and beyond for us. First off, she was always prompt and courteous with her responses and service. She even helped us with our room block drama. Then, on the night of the events, she was there 2 hours before the dinner to make sure the room was set up correctly and stayed past midnight to make sure the night ended well. She walked the room with the waitstaff during the dinner and was great about making sure I was comfortable. I never expected the Catering Sales Manager to be such a presence at our events to make sure everything ran smoothly. She definitely spoiled us with her service and gave us a much higher expectation for our other vendors.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Matt and I had different favorites. But I think we were both very happy to have our vision come to existence. We wanted “us” to be clear in every detail of the wedding so that our guests were celebrating our relationship and union. We put a lot of thought into the day so it was so great to see everyone get excited about it too. For instance, our cocktail hour was New Orleans themed because Matt was born there and it was the first place we visited as a couple. It was a complete surprise to all our guests and we loved watching them make the connections! We had beads, Cajun food, New Orleans drinks, etc. Being very thoughtful in our decisions made the day that much more special.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Think about what type of event you want to have before you start doing your research. There are a LOT of resources out there to look through and you can start to get overwhelmed. You don’t want your vision to get diluted. Reading blogs, gathering DIY ideas, Pinterest, etc were all so helpful to get unique ideas but be sure to think about how your details reflect you and your fiance’s relationship. For us, we wanted a thoughtful, simple, and fun wedding. When I started to get overwhelmed, I turned to our vendors for advice and went with my gut. At the end of the day, you want to be able to enjoy your day and have fun celebrating so revolve your decision around that idea. That helps to eliminate a lot of distractions. Most importantly, just remember why you’re having the wedding in the first place.
Quite possibly the best advice ever! Thank you so much for sharing with us Vi! And a huge thank you to KT Crabb Photography for sharing the gorgeous photos!
I absolutely love the gray and white chevron pattern under the centerpieces. And the gray and white bouquet… you all know I’m a sucker for gorgeous bouquets! :) So how about you- what’s your favorite part of this modern wedding? I’d love to know if any of you are planning on using these same colors in your own wedding!
Vendors who made it all happen…

Hi,
I love the kimono robes you and your bridesmaids wore. Can you please tell me where you bought them?
Thanks!

Hi, Vi! Thanks for commenting. i didn’t see it down here. i got the robes from a local oriental gifts shop. you can find them online too. but i needed them asap for my girls so i went to the shop. mine were a little more expensive than i’d rather pay, but i figured they were cute and re-usable.
sorry for the late response!
