What better way to end our week than with a fun New Year’s Eve wedding from Soli Photography?! With modern, black and white details, an excellent setting, and more than one reason to celebrate, this was more like a New Year’s Eve party that just so happened to have a wedding take place too!
From the bride, Emily:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
We hired a wedding coordinator who gave us some general parameters as to how much to spend and which vendors we should hire, but my husband and I really made all the decisions. We met our photographer and florist at a bridal show even before we hired a wedding coordinator, and they stood out to us by being really personable and listening to our ideas.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
The most important factor for us in deciding who to work with was our vendors’ communication skills. The vendors we chose were prompt, receptive, creative, and fun to work with! When faced with choosing among vendors who were relatively comparably priced, the vendors with the best personalities definitely won!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Since our wedding was on New Year’s Eve, we really wanted more of a sophisticated big city vibe rather than a holiday wedding. Our wedding ended up being more like a New Year’s Eve party where a wedding just happened to take place. We both liked clean, elegant design with a minimal palette, so we went with black and white with the occasional metallic complement. While I found some inspiration on Pinterest and in bridal magazines, most of the end result was the product of vendors’ custom work and a lot of thinking outside the box!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My favorite aspect of our wedding was the flowers! Since 12/31 is pretty much the very dead of winter, our wedding celebration and reception was a beautiful oasis and respite from the cold, dreary weather. Our florist did a fantastic job of constructing some very unique pieces that wowed even our most jaded guests.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My best advice for other brides is to decide what you’re willing to splurge for and what you’re willing to save on. By being frugal with some items that were less important to us (such as stationery and favors), we were able to spend more on the items or vendors that made the biggest impact on our overall wedding schematic. Unless you have an unlimited amount of money, you really have to prioritize what’s most important and limit yourself on the things that do little to facilitate your ideal end result.
I love Emily’s advice to prioritize things so you can both splurge and save.
What a FUN time to have a wedding! Would you consider (or are you) having a New Year’s Eve wedding?
Vendors who made it all happen…
