This gorgeous Asheville wedding celebrated the love of Diane and Stuart and took place at one of our favorite Asheville wedding venues, The Venue! Lovely shades of marsala and pink created a beautiful contrast against an array of navy bridesmaids dresses and white linens. Every last detail of this lovely September wedding, captured by Jessica Cochran Photography, reflected this couple’s journey beautifully- even their wedding cake!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Several sources. My now husband in the overall planning of what we wanted for the ceremony and reception environment/atmosphere. He’s an expert in creating environments to make people feel welcome and highlight what is most important to the two of us. The event manager at our venue, Jon, as well as the owner, Marta, were instrumental in helping decide food and room layout. We deferred to their professional judgement on most things. Lastly, friends and family. We are blessed with friends and family members with diverse talents and desire to pitch in and help. We planned ahead and made sure all of the people we could rely upon had a job to do. They executed flawlessly
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
That they came across as friendly, generally excited for us and our wedding, and didn’t try to nickel and dime us.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Our event space, The Venue, in Asheville already had a theme with exposed brick walls, exposed ceiling wood beam rafters, neutral, chic decor. We added pops of color with self-picked flowers from Lady Luck Flower Farm and arranged by Ramble & Root.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
My husband and I really focused on making sure that this was a celebration of what God has done in our lives. We did not want it to be a production. All of the effort we put into the planning and activities around the wedding weekend were about making sure we and our guests had fun and make sure neither us nor our families/friends stressed out.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Come up with some guiding principles for how you want the weekend to go. For example, ours was have fun, no stress. If people proposed doing something, or we had to decide on spending money on something, we asked ourselves, how much more fun would it make the weekend as compared the time, coordination, or cost (stressors) it would take to execute. Once we balanced the decision against those two things, we had a pretty clear answer. Also, delegate – let friends and family help. Believe it or not it is a gift for you to let them freely give to you. Enjoy it!
What a fun exit- using glow necklaces instead of sparklers is a great idea! All the best to Diane and Stuart as they start their life together in North Carolin!
Vendors who made it all happen…

We loved working with Diane to create the perfect flowers for her perfect day. We had such a great time being apart of this day and love working with couples in the Asheville area to add color to their special day.
