When you share a love for water and boating, finding a way to incorporate it into your wedding day seems like a given. Chelsea and Drew did just that by exchanging their vows at Paradise Cove for their Central Florida wedding. This lakefront venue provided the perfect setting for their wedding day, and we love that they included some subtle nautical details like a knot ceremony and a grand exit at the end of the evening by boat.
Working as the Assistant Chalk Artist at Chalk Shop Events, Chelsea worked closely with Kim, to design this beautiful day full of custom hand-drawn chalk signs. Chelsea and Drew wanted to focus their design on simplicity and beauty, and they achieved just with the greenery details with full white blooms tucked in, and the chalk signage details were the perfect compliment to really make their design of their day pop! So many fun details, and we love how beautifully Bumby Photography captured every moment.
We also have a special treat for you today, as Chelsea gave us an insider’s look at some of her favorite parts of her wedding day. Thank you so much for sharing with us, Chelsea!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
I think ‘time’ helped us most in the planning process. We were engaged for about a year and a half and that length of time really helped spread out the stress of planning and also allowed us the chance to think carefully about what we wanted and how best to accomplish it. I also have some great friends and family that were always willing to help with anything!
Also, I work with Chalk Shop Events (Kim McFadden) in addition to my full-time job and she was so wonderful with letting me have freedom with the chalkboards that I wanted to use. She also really helped to execute the setup of everything on our wedding day – it was a relief knowing that she was there, working side by side with my other vendors to make sure that everything went smoothly.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I think the most important things to us were reliability and creativity. I really valued the recommendations that were given to me by friends that already work in the wedding industry and some of our vendors I was already familiar with like our photographer, florist, and DJ so I knew they would be a great fit!
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
The inspiration for our wedding details really was just allowing our venue to shine. Drew and I are both water people; we love to be out on the lake and when we went to see Paradise Cove, it just felt like us. With the pretty palm trees, water, and sand, I really wanted to choose neutral colors that highlighted the already pretty environment. Our hope was that all of the details we chose would create an intimate, laid back, and fun wedding and I was so happy with how everything came together.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I loved the whole thing so it’s hard to pick a favorite! But aside from being married by the end of the day, I think my favorite thing was all of the personalization we included. We wrote the ceremony, a very close family friend was our Officiant, my sister made our wedding cake, our Word Search contained words that were related to our lives together, Drew built the giant Jenga game and the corn hole boards, and I made the chalkboards (thanks to Chalk Shop Events letting me use them and setting them up for me!). I just felt like we worked hard to make the wedding seem personal and fun – even if no one else knew or noticed all the personal touches, it was special to us knowing that they were there.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Definitely take a few minutes after your ceremony to sneak a peak of your reception area before all of your guests take over their tables. My Matron of Honor gave me that advice before my wedding and so after the ceremony, I made a point of dragging Drew over to the reception area with me so that we could see it before anyone else did. I literally jumped up and down like a little kid because it was so special to me to see all of the details that we had picked come together exactly how I pictured it.
Thank you so much, Chelsea and Drew, for sharing your beautiful wedding with us!
