Elegant Purple Ballroom Wedding

Happy Monday! Or maybe not-so-happy Monday for some of you, but is there a better way to start off your week than reading wedding blogs and looking at pretty things?! This elegant purple ballroom wedding I have for you today was sent to us by Weddings By Socialites and photographed by the fabulous Ashley Brockinton! I too had a ballroom wedding, so I know how hard it is to find gorgeous ballroom weddings on all these wedding blogs and websites- they’re few and far between! Kelly of Weddings By Socialites provided us with a little background info about this beautiful wedding, so we’ll start off with that, and then I’ll let the bride, Lauren, take over!

Lauren and Giuseppe’s big Italian wedding!  Lauren is a pharmacist and Giusseppe owns, of course, an Italian restaurant.  The ceremony took place in a Naples, FL church where the Ciancimino family priest presided over the traditional service.  At LaPlaya the guests were treated to a five course dinner, including the mandatory pasta course.  Lauren loved everything “wedding” and so each element was just as important as the next and she wanted it to very much look and feel like a wedding as she had always dreamed a wedding should.  Shades of purple and flowers everywhere; a great wedding band; a big cake; fancy linens and chairs…everything decorated. White box truffles at each place setting, along with gold beaded chargers, a menu and of course, a purple napkin. 

 What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

 I spent a lot of time doing research on the internet, reading wedding blogs, books, and magazines to find ideas for what I truly wanted our wedding day to be. This is how I found my incredible wedding planner, Kelly McWilliams. From the moment I hired Kelly, I knew our wedding would never be the same. She turned out to not just be a wedding planner but like a friend and a therapist during stressful times. On my actual wedding day, eating breakfast on my hotel room balcony with my parents calmed my nerves and made me feel ready for the big day.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

When it came down to deciding who to hire for our wedding we chose people that we felt the most comfortable with. We chose talented people that we wouldn’t mind having a cup of coffee with. 

 Did any of your vendors do anything special for you before, on, or after your wedding day that you would like to share?

My wedding planner, Kelly McWillaims, went about and beyond the call of duty. I wouldn’t know where to start to name all she did. Most of my bridesmaids live out of town so Kelly and Sue Bain, my florist, did the most beautiful flowers, linens and chair covers for the amazing and delicious bridal shower that my MOH had for me. My photographer, Ashley Brockinton, photographed it. My videographer, AMC Video, posted pictures from our wedding day on their blog with a sweet summary of the day’s events.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

Oh I couldn’t narrow it down to only one thing. The whole experience of the four day week-end is hard to describe,  we feel so much joy remembering it all. Both sides of our family and friends got to bond and make a vacation out of our wedding. It took my breath away when we got to see a sneak peak of the ballroom before our guests came in. Seeing how all the planning and all the decisions we made from the cake to the linens to the flowers came together to create exactly what we wanted was really cool. Everyone still talks about how amazing our band, None Other, was.We danced all night! It was the best week-end ever!
