Happy Friday everyone! I am so excited to share this gorgeous wedding from Ashley Brokop Photography with you all today! One of my favorite color palettes, pink and gray, combined with some amazing eclectic details, make for an absolutely fabulous South Carolina wedding!
From the Bride:
Michael “Wiggins”, as I call him, and dated for 5 years before he proposed. He proposed on 11.11.11. He started planing in July of 2011 to get all if my friends from coast to coast to come into town for a reunion weekend and the Florida football game – little did I know it was a engagement celebration tailgate coined with the term “Touchdown! She said yes!”
Planning the wedding was effortless, fun and entertaining. We didn’t officially have a date until the S. Carolina football schedule was announced. I always knew that I wanted a fall wedding and Michael’s worst nightmare was having a fall wedding on game day.
Because we are avid S. Carolina fans and alumnus of the University the Rutledge Chapel on campus was an easy choice for us.
I would say a good way to describe our entire wedding and planning process was not-so-Traditional but sort of, with a twist. I’m a Roman Catholic “Yankee” who married a sweet coastal South Carolina boy. We didn’t want a catholic mass, sit down dinner or traditional cocktail hour. But we wanted people to share our “party of a lifetime”
Our main focus was food and “the party” itself. We wanted everyone who attended to have an amazing time because this was truly a celebration! The menu planning and decor planning were both favorite parts of mine. Michael and I love food and wanted everything to have our touch on it.
My main goal with the decor was to do something that was very “Donna & Wiggins” and have a Famously hot (our town’s slogan) twist. I wanted people to walk into the room and have it resonate us.
We designed to have great reclaimed elements, the windows behind the bar and wooden planks for centerpiece bases to whiskey barrels for the cake and old doors as tables!!!
I just love SO much about this wedding! All the little details that really made this day their own just make me swoon! Plus, who wouldn’t love men in polka-dot socks?!
What details, little or huge, are you having as a part of your day to make it your own? Will you be DIYing or DIY-buying?
Cheers Everyone!
