This Tennessee wedding has roots in both American and English tradition. Hope and Freddie met while Hope was studying abroad at Oxford. Freddie was from England, and Hope from New York City. They shared a whirlwind romance, and despite a break-up due to distance, they found their way back to each other. At the time of their wedding, the couple was living in London, but decided to have a garden wedding in Nashville, Tennessee, where the bride’s parents had moved.
They exchanged vows at Scarritt Bennett Center and celebrated through the evening at Cedarwood Weddings. We love that they chose locations with rich Southern charm, but also gave guests a feeling of being transported to the English countryside. Due to planning a wedding from across an ocean, the all-inclusive reception venue was an ideal choice to make the planning process more seamless.
Hope and Freddie chose to have a traditional English wedding ceremony, while enjoying a more traditionally American reception. The men all wore wool morning suits, and then did a change into black-tie evening attire for the reception. A major highlight for us was definitely the double decker party bus as a fun, and unique way to add a little English flair to the day. As guests arrived to cocktail hour, they were greeted on the lawn with a bluegrass band, and continued the evening in an elegant garden reception.
There are so many beautiful details carried throughout Hope and Freddie’s wedding day, and we can’t wait for you to see how Erin Lee Allender Photography captured it all.
One last detail that we love, was that Hope also made a wardrobe change for the reception. She changed into her mother’s wedding gown to celebrate not only the beginning of her marriage, but celebrated the love and tradition that has been passed down. Such a beautiful, and fun way to add a personal touch to the day.
