I am so excited to share this beautiful Salt Lake City wedding from Michelle Leo Events with you this fabulous Friday! Captured by Chudleigh Photography, the lovely blush and pale blue color palette paired with a vintage glam style has me absolutely swooning at all the beauty! The bride, Gizelle, is here with us to share her planning insight:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Our wedding planner, Michelle Cousins of Michelle Leo Events, was the most integral part of our wedding planning process. From the initial vendor selection to the set-up and break down of the wedding venue, she was able to design, create, and implement a beautiful day for us. We were able to enjoy and savor every moment of our wedding weekend without having to worry about last minute details because we knew were in good hands.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We wanted to work with a planner who not only had an outstanding reputation in event design and planning, but someone who was down-to-earth, easy to talk to, and collaborative. When I first hired Michelle, I was based in Cambodia for work and my husband was based in Washington, D.C. for law school so we needed to work with someone that we knew we could easily communicate with, was collaborative, and someone whom we could trust. Having a wedding planner who was accessible and responsive by Skype and email was also really important, given our locations and time differences during the wedding planning process. Michelle delivered in every possible way: not only was she efficient and had a great sense of style, she also listened to what we wanted on our wedding day and made sure it happened.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Incorporating traditional aspects of our cultural heritage of the Philippines inspired our wedding details. For instance, our wedding favors, fresh water pearl earrings for the ladies and dried mangoes for the gentlemen, were imported from the Philippines. The men’s barongs, an embroidered formal Filipino shirt, hand woven from either cocoon or pineapple silk, inspired the theme of our wedding: traditional, elegant, and romantic. We then chose the color palette of peach, blush, mint, and gold, which was inspired by the venue of our wedding reception, The Grand America Hotel.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
All of our family and friends are spread across the globe and we knew many of our guests would be seeing each other for the first time in years. One of our favorite things about our wedding was that it was a reunion for our families as well as our college and high school friends. Seeing all of them out on the dance floor talking, laughing, and having a great time together, whether it was their fiftieth time together or their first time meeting each other was really memorable. Having every single important person in our lives, in that room, all at the same time, to celebrate us was spectacular.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Drink lots of water and be sure to have snacks handy throughout the day; you will need the energy on one of the most exciting and memorable days of your life!
Gorgeous right?!
What are you most excited for on your wedding day?
Have a great weekend!
Cheers!
