Spring is most definitely in the air, and these romantic pastel wedding ideas are the epitome of the beautiful season. The inspiration for this soft, lovely, design included a palette of soft corals, lavender and champagne, along with spring foliage and pops of whimsy. The charming vintage-style venue, Franciscan Gardens, was the perfect backdrop for this fruitful inspiration. Combining textures of whitewashed exposed wood farm tables with vintage china, colorful water goblets, and a variety of chairs in neutral hues brought this spring palette to life.

Nothing says spring better than fruit favors, like pears, combined with soft floral watercolor place cards and menus. The florals were dripping with light corals and lavenders with accents of vintage brass candlesticks. And we absolutely must mention the stunning whimsical circular arch, with pops of light coral and lavender miniature balloons combined with florals in shades of ivory, coral, and lavender. We are thrilled to share this inspiration with you today, and can’t wait for you to see the beauty that Lin & Jirsa captured!

Aside from choosing your venue, wedding planner, and the pros who will design your details and make sure you’re having fun, knowing how to hire a wedding photographer- researching, and let alone booking- can feel like such a…task. But, just like so many other wedding planning moments, finding your wedding photographer doesn’t have to be so hard! Instead, it’s all about turning to the people you trust most (family and friends… and us at ELD too!) and taking a moment to pay close attention to websites, responses, and how everything makes you feel.

Because we know you’re likely already envisioning the experience you hope to have, we thought it was time to talk more about how to find your wedding photographer. And, we’re not just talking about finding your photographer from the standpoint of what his or her packages include and whether that’s ideal for your day. We also want to be sure you’re thinking of the style of photography that looks ideal to you, as well as the moments you hope are captured for you to frame from your engagement and wedding day. So, we’re sharing our very own V List member Kimberly Photography’s advice about how to hire a wedding photographer, because her tips from her blog are on point!

How To Hire A Wedding Photographer via TheELD.com

Step 1 – Ask Around!

This is the fun part! After photographing weddings for the past 15 years, I’ve got some stories and I bet your friends do too. Recently married couples are the perfect people to ask about their experiences with wedding vendors. They can tell you what they loved and didn’t love when working with their creative team. Here is where you get to sit back and hear all of the wonderful, crazy, out of this world stories! The other fantastic question to ask your friends, family, co-worker, or other wedding vendors…(you get the idea) is what would they do different? Let their life lessons help guide you on what’s best for you. Take the highly recommended vendors from your loved ones and create a list of names, websites, and phone numbers.

Step 2 – Pick Your Favorites & Inquire

Your photographer is one of the very few vendors that is literally by your side…ALL DAY LONG. It’s important that you not only trust your photographer, but feel comfortable around them too. You should get a good feel for the photographer’s personality before ever making contact. Take the time to check out the photographer’s about page and reviews section. These details are just as important as looking at their galleries to see their favorite images and blog for the most recent events.

Once you’ve narrowed down your initial list to the ones you are most excited about contacting…it’s time to inquire! Either give a call or fill out the photographer’s contact form. Pay close attention to the responses you receive as this can make or break a deal already.

Step 3 – What’s Your Experience So Far?

You’ve done quite a bit of work thus far, so while you’re waiting to hear back from your submitted inquiries, let’s take a breather. Grab your favorite drink and loved one and cuddle up for a minute.

Ah. That’s better! Okay, so let’s talk about your experience with each photographer up to this point. Your experience with each photographer begins from receiving your recommendations. Your next experience happens when you visited their website. Your third experience happens when you inquire and the type of response you receive. How did each one make you feel? Did everyone respond to you? Did they sound excited you said hello? Now you can narrow down your list of who you want to continue talking with.

Don’t these three things make you feel better already? We like to think of them as how to hire a wedding photographer…simplified. Those are just the first three tips from Kimberly’s post, and there are two more for you to review on her blog!

If this doesn’t brighten your day I don’t know what will! Megan and Scott had some of the most lovely whimsical and bright details at their Central Florida wedding. If you love color as much as we do here at ELD, then you’re going to LOVE this special day! Stripes, shades of pink and navy, and gorgeous florals are just a few of our favorite elements. Oh, and did we mention that Megan is a stationery designer? Of course the invitation suite and all the wedding day stationery is amazing. I’m so excited that Megan is joining us today to share some of her insight! Amalie Orrange Photography captured everything at Luxmore Grande Estate perfectly, and we cannot WAIT for you to see!

“Scott was by my side for the planning process but he really let me run with the design. Being a paper lover & in the stationery industry I wanted to set the tone of our wedding early on though the invitation design. My design came from a mash up of things I love flowers, rose gold, black+white. Cedar water colored the floral design which were used on our stationery suite & then on many elements throughout the wedding. They became the pop of color. I added black & white for modern feel, plus its my go to color scheme in fashion & design.”

“Rose gold adds a bit of class/sophistication, plus my mom’s & middle name is Rose & my rings are set in rose gold too. The green bridesmaid dresses, although random, remind me of St.Petersburg’s iconic green benches (where I grew up) and Scott’s family’s John Deer tractors on the farm. The wood details in the design remind us of his father who is a wood worker by trade. We wanted the wedding to make everyone feel welcome & comfortable and full of personal connections … just like we do when we’re hosting guests at our house (as we love to do).”

“The meal we had is one of the meals Scott & I cooked together early on while dating. It has since become a favorite & a meal we cook for many occasions. Every guest received a menu card with the recipe to take home. Cake was a fun area of enjoyment throughout the wedding planning process for Scott & I – from cake tasting to beyond. We added cake into the response on our RSVP card & at each place setting there was a bite sized piece of cake that say “Life is short, eat cake first”.

I wanted to incorporate paper into the wedding somewhere – besides the obvious program, menu card, etc- so we hand cut paper chargers of Cedar’s watercolor floral design.”
