I’m not sure what I love more about this wedding from Jen & Chris Creed. The black and white color palette, the sweet and simple details, or the fun-filled reception! I hope you enjoy Erika and Lydon’s beautiful wedding and smiles as much as me.
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Our wedding planner, Sarah Addison (with Simply Stunning Events at the time in Nashville, TN and now the owner of Details by Sarah Elizabeth in Denver, Colorado), was such a great help in the planning and execution of our wedding day. She recommended fantastic vendors, responded quickly to all of our e-mails, and kept things running smoothly on the big day. She came to the rescue when the ribbons on my french bustle broke (too much dancing, I suppose!) and kept us focused on celebrating with each other and our guests -instead of on all of the details surrounding the event. She was phenomenal – as was my mom, who consulted with me through countless phone calls and e-mails and my (now) husband who attended every single vendor meeting.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We knew that everyone our wedding planner recommended would be incredibly talented and produce a great finished product. For us, it came down to personal chemistry and if we liked being around that individual or couple. These are people who are with you on or contribute to the most important day of your life as a couple and it was so important to us that we could see ourselves having fun and working well with them. Our photographers, Jen and Chris Creed, became great friends throughout the process and we still get together on a regular basis today.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
When we first started working with our wedding planner, Sarah, she asked what three words would best describe our dream wedding and our response was: classic, fun, and elegant. In every decision we made – from the flowers (classic white) to the band (Motown) to the bridesmaids dresses (black satin), we wanted our choices to reflect those three descriptors and the end result was a classic, fun and elegant wedding!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
Our absolute favorite part of the wedding was getting married and sharing that sacred ceremony with so many of our close friends and family members. The entire day was just amazing – everything came together beautifully and better than we could have ever imagined, but the most important thing was that it marked day one of our life together as husband and wife.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
This is such a special time in your life – treasure it, do not stress over it, and have fun with it. I highly recommend hiring a wedding planner (or at least a day-of coordinator)- it was one of the best decisions we made. And remember – at the end of the day – you get to marry your best friend and the love of your life!
How can you not love Erika’s advice? It’s true in every possible way – treasure your wedding day and don’t get so wrapped up in the details. And, just like she says, remember that you get the marry your best friend!
xo,
Brit
