Rebecca and Kyle were married on Halloween, and one of their top priorities was to host a fairytale inspired wedding, making guests feel as though they were spending the evening in an enchanted garden. Ideal Design Events planned the soiree beautifully, and the flowers are beyond gorgeous. From the chess pieces to the teacups and top hat worn by the ring bearer, you will notice quite a few nods to “Alice In Wonderland”, which only adds to the fairytale theme – the perfect style for a soiree at the Sunken Gardens. What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
My wedding planner, Christina Craft with Ideal Design Events was incredible. She recommended vendors based on my needs and kept me on track. My day was smooth and flawless thanks to Christina.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
I wanted to work with people who were fun-loving, kind and flexible. All of my vendors worked together seamlessly. When I was running late, my photographer, Jill Kelly, drove me to the venue! My team felt like extended family and did everything possible to make my day incredible.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
We wanted to get married on Halloween so that we’d always remember and celebrate our anniversary. We also wanted the wedding to be light and happy. We pulled ideas from our favorite childhood stories like Alice in Wonderland and from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
I was in heaven when dancing the night away with my handsome husband and best friends. My heart felt like it could have burst with joy when I saw how much fun my niece, our fairy flower girl, and nephew, our ring bearer, were having. My niece told me that she was a princess! She adored her fairy wings and princess dress.
My favorite details were: The crystal Bohemian Czech champagne flutes, the flower girl’s wings and flower crown, the ring bearer’s Grimm’s Fairy Tale book used in place of a pillow, the ring bearer/my nephew’s pocket watch to match my husbands, THE MASKS, the handkerchief I gave to my mother-in-law, my father-in-law was our officiant, the beautiful flowers created by my wedding planner aka fairy godmother.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
Surround yourself with people who love you and a happy team of professional vendors. Look for the good in every situation and, most importantly, be happy!
