One of Anne and Tammy’s greatest wishes for their wedding day was to be married in an intimate ceremony surrounded only by their family members, followed by an eclectic SmogShoppe wedding! In order to make their wish a reality, they created a wedding weekend in which they were married the day before their reception! During the fantastically eclectic and whimsical reception at SmogShoppe, a video of their ceremony played for guests. Plus, the space was filled with the coolest blooms by Bespoke Florals that matched their venue and aesthetic perfectly, a packed dance floor, and a fun FLIPBOOTH photobooth! There are certain events where you would love to attend as a guest, and Anne and Tammy’s wedding, captured by Stephanie Collins Photography, is definitely one of them!
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
We had a year to plan the wedding, and were able to do most of planning ourselves. Tammy does contracts for a living so handled negotiations on contracts, pricing, etc., while Anne focused on aesthetics. So we took a divide and conquer approach. Staying very organized during the planning process was key – we kept a dropbox folder with all our vendor details and contracts, a running budget, to do lists and more. Since we spent so much time planning the wedding, hiring a professional day of coordinator to make sure our vision was executed was an absolute must. It felt great to leave all the logistics in capable hands and just focus on enjoying the day.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
It was important to us to have a wedding that fit our style, and vendors on board with our vision. We spent a lot of time researching and meeting with vendors and hearing first hand how they were perceived by other couples. Doing the initial due diligence up front made us confident with our choices.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
Our inspiration was dictated in large part by the beautiful setting of our reception venue, The Smog Shoppe. We fell in love with the space the moment we walked in. It’s a unique space, beautiful and eclectic and definitely not stuffy. Plus it was down the street from our home, so we took a $5 uber ride home at the end of the night.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
The love in the room. There’s just nothing quite like getting all of your closest friends and family together to celebrate love. It’s a real high.
What is your best piece of advice for other couples?
Plan as far ahead of time as possible. Research, research, research. You’ll get stressed out and maybe even argue over something at some point, but just remind yourself this is about love and commitment and at the end of the day you get to spend the rest of your life with your best friend. Make sure to eat something during the reception and dance your butt off!
I love that Anne and Tammy’s main focus to make sure they spent celebrated their marriage with their family with an intimate ceremony. Have you thought of doing something to ensure your family feels included in your wedding ceremony?
