Crystal and Ryan filled their wedding with unique personal details- such as favors that were USB drives pre-loaded with a mix tape by the groom- and paid special attention to making sure their wedding was reflective of them and memorable for their guests. Crystal is here with us today sharing more about her wedding…
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
When it came to planning our wedding, Ryan really helped out a bunch. It really meant a lot to both of us to make decisions together so that we were really both represented throughout the wedding. If at any point I got stressed out about something, Ryan was quick to take over and handle the situation. Our actual wedding day went very smoothly. Krysti, our caterer from Honest Foods, really took care of every detail and worked so well with Genevieve, our contact at the venue. I don’t remember one moment during the wedding, where they needed my approval on anything. Now I understand why our venue had a specific catering list that they want you to pick from, because they trust these people with putting on a perfect day.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
It was quite easy picking our vendors, because most of them had worked with each other and had nothing but nice things to say about one another. We did make sure to do some research prior to contacting them and luckily the reviews were great. The other thing that helped the most was the fact that they were able to grasp our vision without trying to change much of anything. And most importantly,every time we met with each vendor I felt comfortable and ease throughout the meeting and left feeling like they’ve got that under control.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
We knew this was our one chance to throw a huge party with all our family and friends, and we wanted to make it as fun as possible and to truly represent us as a couple. We kept things very clean and simple, with an emphasis on those items people would remember the most: food and drink and music. Our personalities came through in these decisions, and we further injected our personalities into the wedding with our DIY table markers and USB drives with a mix of our favorite music.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
That to this day, people have told us it was one of the best weddings they’ve attended. That it felt like one huge party and that it was very “us.” The other thing that I loved was that our venue was literally less than a mile from our home and located in the same neighborhood I was born and raised in, and it will always have a special place in my heart because it truly felt like home.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
The best advice I can offer to a fellow bride would be that venue is key. The venue is going to set the mood for what type of wedding you want and should speak for itself. When I saw our venue for the first time I knew there wasn’t much for us to do and that’s exactly what we wanted.
