A waterfront ceremony under the grand oak trees at The Powel Crosely Estate, complete with a reception on the lawn under the stars, Chelsea and Zack couldn’t have asked for a more romantic setting for their outdoor Florida wedding.
Keeping their day simple, this couple chose to have a laid back, cocktail-style reception. A palette of soft pink and glittering gold was a beautiful compliment to the mediterranean-style architecture of their venue. Cat Pennenga Photography captured the beauty and moments that made this couple’s wedding day so special. From getting ready images to sunset portraits, we love how Chelsea and Zack embraced every moment of this perfect day, and we can’t wait for you to be inspired by it all!
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding.
I really didn’t have much of a vision until I stumbled across the Powel Crosley Estate. I was just searching for wedding venues around central Florida and once I saw the photos of this place, I knew it was perfect. It was the perfect combination of a waterfront location that was still filled with charm and history. From there, I was able to decide on details such as colors, and style. I LOVED the combination of light pink, gold and tons of greenery. I had this vision of a romantic style with just a touch of rustic. We did this by incorporating some wooded elements in our decor.
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
We totally skipped on dinner at our reception. We had our ceremony at 7:30 pm and just provided finger foods and desserts at the reception. At first, this was an attempt to save money since we anticipated a large guest list. But given the chance to do it again, I would still go with this cocktail style reception. It was so laid back and fit our style perfectly. It turned out to more like an after party.
We love that this couple made decisions through their planning that made sense for their style and their budget. Planning a wedding is tough work, and sometimes that also means making difficult decisions when balancing wants with budget constraints, and this couple made choices that worked for them while giving them the celebration they’d hoped for!
Are there any compromises you foresee making to create the wedding day you’re dreaming of?
