If you love lush romantic florals, prepare to fall head over heels! Today’s Birmingham wedding, with amazing planning and florals by Thorne & Thistle, is a flower lover’s dream! Taking place at the Clubhouse on Highland, the day began with a ceremony in front of the mansion staircase. Dripping with blush and red florals, it was like something out of a fairytale. To add even more sweetness, these high school sweethearts wrote their own vows, with only close friends and family in attendance. The reception featured even more gorgeous florals, accented with lush greenery garland runners and tall taper candles. Every detail exudes effortless elegance and Southern charm, and it’s all beautifully highlighted in the images captured by Taylor Dane Photography.
We love what Lisa of Thorne and Thistle shared:
This is the sweetest wedding I have ever done. The couple, who have dated since high school, wanted a very intimate, family oriented wedding. It was held on a Tuesday night- a first for me!
The design was classic, elegant and timeless with florals in shades of dusty rose, peach and ivory with pops of deep wine. I used foraged abelia, elegance and smilax for the greens and garland and peonies, roses and ranunculus for all bouquets. The same flowers and greenery were wound through the staircase, which the bride and father descended for the ceremony.
The historic house main parlors were used for the ceremony, then flipped while cocktail hour was served on the porch. Hand-lettered placecards were used at each place setting, and taper candles in gold candleholders were added to the long tables. Guests were served dinner, and instead of cake, they had a choice of gourmet ice cream bars during the dancing.
