This gorgeous seaside wedding – set in Lahaina, Hawaii – is like something out of a dream. Captured perfectly by Tamiz Photography, you’ll fall in love with the stunning oceanfront view, ethereal lighting and organic details (the driftwood altar is to die for!)- not to mention the gorgeously soft color palette of champagne, white and cream. The beyond gorgeous bride, Kelli, is here to share her planning insight:
What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?
Our wedding location was on Maui where I was born and raised but currently I am living in Wisconsin so I was very lucky to have my most stylish mother who lives on Maui helping me with the planning process. She also had the guidance of a fabulous wedding planner, Melissa who owns her own wedding rental boutique, Opihi Love Vintage Rentals and Event Design on Maui. Having Melissa greatly decreased the stress often associated with planning big events and let us enjoy being in the moment in the days leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself.
What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?
We wanted to work with vendors who had a passion for their craft. We were very inspired by our caterers whose enthusiasm for each local ingredient they utilized came across when discussing the menu. We also fell in love with the husband/wife photographers, Tamiz whose website displayed their amazing talent for capturing love and light in their photographs.
What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?
I envisioned an elegant beach wedding. I wanted the setting of the ocean to be the dramatic show stopper and all of the other details to complement the natural beauty and not compete. So we kept the flowers and linens shades of white, cream and neutrals and added mercury glass details and chandeliers to dress up the space and make it feel grand.
What was your favorite thing about your wedding?
It is so hard to choose one favorite thing but a moment I really cherish is being surrounded by all my closest family and friends on the dance floor under the stars.
What is your best piece of advice for other brides?
My best advice is to just have a wonderful time. Soak it up and don’t forget to take a moment alone with your groom even if just for a quick champagne toast to be in the moment together.
Living inland and planning an island wedding, Kelli and Evan relied heavily on her mother and their fabulous team of vendors.
If you’re planning a destination wedding, are you considering handing over the bulk of decisions to a local planner/designer or are you trekking to your wedding locale for an in-person planning session or two?
XOXO,
Carlee
