My goodness, you all are in for a treat today! You may (or may not) have heard about a little movie called “Oz The Great and Powerful” that recently hit theaters. I actually haven’t been able to see it yet, but this inspiration shoot full of “The Wizard of Oz” wedding ideas sure does make me excited for it! Created by Viva L’Event NC and photographed by Live View StudiosI’m excited for you all to take a trip down the yellow brick road (I know, I know- I just HAD to) with me…

From Stephanie of Viva L’Event:

With emerald as the pantone color of the year for 2013 and the exciting new movie “Oz the Great and Powerful” premiering shortly, who can forget the 1939 film version of the original “Wizard of Oz”? With Judy Garland as “Dorothy” and Billy Burke as “Glinda the Good Witch,” it has become a timeless classic with it’s iconic ruby red shoes.

Just like it’s movie counterpart, this styled shoot was set on a rustic farm location. Nestled in the hills of North Carolina, Snipes Farm Retreat is a rustic wedding venue that brought the influence of Kansas fields into this shoot. The gorgeous photography by Live View Studios showcases this new age Wizard of Oz and brings the inspiration from the original film into a glamorous reinterpretation for 2013.

I wanted to keep to the true emerald and golds with the table setting that brings the glitz and glamour to life with amazing linens and place settings by CE Rentals. It was all accented by the colorful menu cards, with a place setting for four. The flowers were all created by Viva L’Event NC, including the table centerpiece which was kept elegant and simple, and the two bouquets – one representing the sweet “Dorothy” with a traditional blue gingham wrap and pops of color, and in the center of the bouquet, the bamboo, which represents the “Emerald City”.  The other was an all white bouquet wrapped in a gold chevron ribbon for the glam “Glinda”.

The whimsical, amazing cake and cupcakes made by Edible Art showcased each of the characters from the original film with the Emerald City on top and the yellow brick road down the side. All the unique stationary were created by Opus 1. Notice the date on the invites? It’s the opening date of the movie!

The glitz and glamour of couture bridal gowns from Romona Keveza Bridal Couture Collection made our “Dorothy” model beautiful in a pale blue gown, and our “Glinda the Good Witch” model was stunning in the beautiful ivory/gold gown.

The hair styling took the old braids Dorothy had into a new era with the fun fishtail braid look on our model for “Dorothy”, and glam big curls for “Glinda” which were just beautiful. The make-up by Michelle Clark also represented the look of the style shoot and kept “Dorothy” sweet and “Glinda” glam.

You all know that I love it when people can find inspiration in new things, and I just LOVE the ways that they brought the movie into this shoot! How perfect is that emerald green sequin table linen?! And the dog- oh my goodness… the absolute best!

Will any of you be using a favorite movie or story as inspiration for your own wedding? Even if it’s just a small element- it has the potential to be so unique!
