Good afternoon everybody! I’m getting the feeling this week that most people are ready to take some serious advantage of the weekend with the weather finally warming up a bit! Well today I have a gorgeously colorful wedding that is going to bring a smile to your face and a little warmth to your heart. Ellen and Jason’s wedding is absolutely the most precious thing you will ever see and I am in love with their fun and eclectic details! Here are some amazing photos from Ellen and Jason’s fabulous photographer Lauren Reynolds Photography!

What (or who) helped you most in your planning process and/or on your wedding day?

I’m a designer in my day job and the biggest help I found during the planning process were blogs and Pinterest. By browsing other people’s weddings, I was very visually inspired and it helped a lot in making decisions. We hired a day-of coordinator which was one the best decisions we made. She handled all the details so my family and friends (and us!) could enjoy the actual day to the fullest.

What was the most important thing to you when deciding who to work with for your wedding?

I wanted to pick vendors that were, local small,  and owned by women. I loved being able to give them my support and in turn, I got exceptional service. Most of our vendors—dress, photography, flowers, cake, catering and coordinator—were local women-owned businesses.

What was your inspiration for your wedding details and/or design?

My biggest inspiration was keeping things simple, but beautiful. We didn’t get caught up in traditions that didn’t have special meaning for us. Instead we spent our dollars where it counted most for us.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding?

My favorite thing about our wedding was the atmosphere. We started with a great venue and kept things casual and relaxed. We only invited people we knew and loved and it ended up being a wonderfully fun evening spent with the ones we love. I also liked that the decor and atmosphere was not too feminine—the groom deserves his day too!

What is your best piece of advice for other brides?

My best piece of advice is don’t get too wrapped up in the details of what you “have to do”. You don’t “have” to anything you don’t want to!! There can a lot of people involved in the planning, but at the end of the day, its you and your husband’s day and you should make it exactly they way you want! Also, don’t let decision making anxiety stall your planning efforts. Go with your gut!

Okay so I loved SO many things about this wedding from the floral design and paper goods to the absolutely amazing venue but something I wish I had done for my wedding… That kids table!? The way Ellen incorporated the children at her wedding into the reception but made sure to give them their own ways to have fun was amazing! What are your ideas for entertaining the kids at your wedding or, are you having an adult only party? Can’t wait to hear all about it!

Cheers!

Samm
